Dr. Daisy Damasco-Gutierrez, MD

The doctor and her staff were very professional, nice and attentive. They were very helpful in getting the necessary referral and blood tests that I needed. It was easy to get an appointment with this doctor, and once at the office, the wait time was relatively short. Everyone seemed pretty happy, so it must have been a good day.

When I came into the office to discuss some of my health concerns, she kept laughing in a way that made me really uncomfortable. I could tell she was trying to hold back, but I don’t understand why she was acting so unprofessional in the first place. It wasn’t like I was telling her something completely abnormal or strange, either. One of the nurses comforted me, apologized for the way she was acting, and said she was just overwhelmed. Either way, this experience made me feel less confident to express my health concerns, and I do not recommend this doctor.

She was rude and seemed like she didn’t care about my health concerns. I also witnessed how badly she treats her nurses. I feel bad for these poor girls having to put up with that woman. If youre looking for a kind PCP, look elsewhere

After recently moving to San Diego, I was nervous to find another PCP because my previous one was amazing. Dr. Damasco-Gutierrez exceeded my expectations. It was easy to get an appointment and she was so attentive and took over an hour with me to ask many questions about myself and my medical history. I loved how patient and comfortable she made me feel. I got refills for a medical condition I've had for over 10 years the same day I saw her. I was able to do lab work at her office the same day I had my first appointment with her. Usually I would have to go elsewhere for lab work, so this was very convenient and I did not have to take extra time off work. I love how she asks a lot of follow up questions and really cares about what I have to say. She makes sure to ask several times if there is anything I would like to share. It was easy to make in-person or virtual appointments on the Perlman Clinic site. Staff are very nice! I trust her with my health and I highly recommend her.

I would advise against seeing Dr. Daisy Damasco as a primary care physician. Based on my personal experience, she is not attentive to her patients' needs and fails to follow up on important health concerns. I had an annual check-up with her and even though my lab results were available ten days prior, she has not responded to multiple messages and emails regarding flagged items on the results. It seems that her only priority is maximizing profits, as she has been known to find different ways to charge both patients and insurance companies without providing proper care and attention. Also during my physical exam, she was rushed and impersonal. It felt as though she was in a rush, treating the examination like a factory production line rather than taking the time to thoroughly assess my health. If Dr. Damasco is assigned to you, I would highly recommend seeking a different healthcare provider for your medical needs.

Visited her for an annual physical after changing insurance. Told me she wanted me to visit a gyno for a previous (not urgent) issue instead. No issues were found. At the follow up phone call as she was reviewing my blood results, she questioned why I didn't do the pap smear at her office. Because she herself didn't want to do it, and ended up referring me to someone else! She was in a rush when she saw me so maybe that's why she declined (even though I requested a pap smear beforehand). The pap smear and colposcopy are free part of my annual physical per my insurance, but by referring me out now I owe over $1500. Will not be returning to Daisy and Perlmann Clinic.

Dr Damasco was assigned to me as PCP at Perlmann clinic and I can’t help but feel like my only prescription drug (birth control) is being held hostage. I am young (20s) and healthy with no health conditions and Dr Damasco has twice refused to refill my routine birth control prescription until I see her in the office so she can bill my insurance for the office visit. Not a respectful or trustworthy way of running a practice. I also don’t enjoy coming in for annual physical because the office billed my insurances incorrectly which left me stuck with the balance almost sent to collection and took 6 months to fix their billing code to resolve the bill.

Great! I came down with shingles which was very painful. I went to Perlman Urgent Care in Chula Vista where she diagnosed my condition competently prescribing medicine that helped me. I was positively impressed with her manner and humane treatment with this 86 year old patient. I want to have her be my primary physician although my medical coverage does not require such.
