Choose Another Dr
Dr Cardin was knowledgeable and direct, but uncaring. My husband was in the hospital 12 days before passing, and she never stopped by or called once. My husband askrepeatedly… “Where is my doctor?” The answer… “That group doesn’t visit people in the hospital.” How is that possible? We trusted her with his life and she didn’t care enough to check in. She chose to ignore scans clearly showing the need for a procedure that could have given us more time,. She decided that he would eventually pass from the disease, so she opted out. That wasn’t her call. It was ours. We weren’t even given a choice. If you want a doctor who is truly committed to helping you have as much time with your family as possible, choose someone else. Take it from someone who was robbed of more time because of poor care, you deserve better. My husband did, but certainly didn’t receive it. Not to worry though. They sent a sympathy card.

Think Twice
Be very cautious before choosing this doctor for your cancer care. She spends time listening and then ignores test results. She does not reach out personally to patients. You never hear from her. She has her nurse practitioner do all her communication and allows her to make many critical decisions. The NP is not very knowledgeable and made many mistakes. The entire team simply goes through the motions and does nothing more. Nothing is explained and if you ask too many questions, you are made to feel that you are a nuisance. Since the NP picks up much of Carson’s work, there is a breakdown in care and the patient suffers as a result. Think before choosing Dr Cardin or Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center. They do not put the patient first and the lack of personal attention could literally cost you your life.

Disconnected
Dr Cardin always took the time to listen and try to explain things, but didn’t seem to truly care. She never took the time to go outside a scheduled appointment to check in or care. She never seemed invested in helping with the disease or its progression. It was delivery of matter of fact information and send you home experience….nothing more. If you want a caring doctor, look elsewhere.

Dr. Cardin took care of my husband and me while he fought pancreas cancer. We all three knew we would not win the war, but we faced every battle bravely.

Dr Cardin Is one of the best Doctors I’ve ever met. I can’t imagine why anyone would give her a negative review and doubt the validity of such claims. Intelligent and caring- exactly what you would hope for with a cancer diagnosis.

This doctor doesn’t care at all about her patients. I wondered constantly during the 2 years that I was under her care WHY she became a medical doctor. In my experience and those of a couple of others who were under her care, she acted as if she could care less, that this was a 9-5 job that she disliked. I rarely review doctors, but I am with her, as I hope that it will stop others from having to go through the horrible experience that I went through.

I have just finished chemo with Dr Cardin. Reviews are correct, she is t going to coddle you when you feel bad, but I assure you she cares. When she is concerned she will do something. Very good about prescribing medications. Always was on schedule. I saw her nurse practitioner a few time and she did coddle a lot! Overall I thought she did her job and was good at it.

Dr. Cardin has been working with my mother through her pancreatic cancer and has been amazing the entire process. She has been very informative, has provided clear communication about options and has done a terrific job explaining the progress of my mother's cancer making it easy for all of us to understand exactly what is going on. I would highly recommend Dr. Cardin to any patients in the future.

Dr. Cardin has been upfront and honest. She has shown that she is a compassionate doctor who cares about her patients. I have not experienced the coldness that a former reviewer expressed. I hope she doesn't leave or retire anytime soon.

Dr. Cardin was very honest and upfront . She will not sugar-coat anything. Although this may seem unacceptable to some people, I would rather know everything and have it in the open and not hide anything. She was very open to questions and was very informative about treatment options and continues to say in touch.
