Dr. Daniel Biggerstaff, MD

After my last surgery I had some problems. It may have been due to my pre-diabetic state or needing to lose more weight. I have been working on both and now we will continue with more surgery to correct my problems. I am so thankful for Dr. Biggerstaff. He always listens to my needs and my concerns. We discuss the options & and decide together the course of action needed for me.

Dr Biggerstaff was extremely nice very helpful and gave me several options for my ankle. I was very happy with my visit and felt like he truly listened to my problem and was trying to help me recover.

Dr Biggerstaff was very thorough, offered options and made me feel at ease about my foot. Visit was very comfortable with him. Will definitely go back for another appointment if needed!

Always have gotten great care here with an injury once to my toes and now to my ankle n foot area . X-rays and MRI taken and healing info given to me by the Dr and his staff that are fantastic. If there’s a next time for me I’ll be right back to this provider . No regrets .

Not only did he treat me like I was wasting his time, but also he ignored my questions. He had no plan of care except to stay off my foot. No wheelchair, no pain meds, no referral, nothing. I guess he sized me up and decided I wasn’t deserving of care. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. His staff, however, is amazing. The radiologist was so careful not to hurt me more than necessary. The PA (or NP), Nadine was wonderful and I will request her from now on.

I have had extreme pain in my heel for 8 months and was referred to Dr Biggerstaff after other procedures failed to improve my condition. Dr Biggerstaff was decisive, informative and caring. My procedure is scheduled for July 10th and I am glad that I do not have to wait too long for relief! He is highly regarded by staff on Novants Orthopedic Unit for having good surgical outcomes.

I found Dr Biggerstaff to be caring and compassionate about my ankle issues. He was right to the point as to what I should expect, the healing time and the outcome. My first surgery( Achilles Tendon surgery) went very well until I did one thing he said definitely not to do. When I did I tore a different tendon that had to be surgically repaired. He did a remarkable job on my right ankle which is pain free and very strong now. Recently I had surgery for a hammer toe and bunion on my other foot. It has healed well just as I expected. He is a wonderful surgeon.

I must agree with others who found Daniel Biggerstaff to be dismissive, and he did not show a great deal of care and concern post surgery. I had three procedures on my left foot December 2022 He acted as though he didn't want to go near my foot post surgery or attempt to do a thorough exam. When the toe had to be 'taped down' by a staff member soon after surgery, that should've been my first clue. Ten months later, the hammertoe has already moved out of normal position and is popping back up. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this physician to anyone else...... and it is disappointing to report. I can recommend his PA however. She was great!

In my opinion he is very lazy and couldn’t care less. I feel like it’s almost like he had better things to do. I did not find him very professional. I feel like it was a complete waste of my $75 for the visit. His staff on the other hand was absolutely incredible and I would like to thank them for their professionalism and friendly demeanor.

This guy did an ankle replacement on me. He never saw me after the surgery and only made available a PA, who said it looked infected (which it did) and gave me antibiotics. I was in the worst pain of my life for 3 months. Despite numerous X-rays by the PA, who said she thought something might be wrong, and was also infected, the doctor STILL wouldnt see me until after 3 months. When he finally looked at the X-ray, he said, oh, the ankle didn’t take and we have to do it again. And that I would likely walk like a cripple like I had been walking prior during the rejection of the implant. I was in so much pain and begged for pain medication and that was still no indication to him he should look at me. These guys are supposed to supervise these PA’s. Not Biggerstaff. I came to find out that a fluoroscopy was in order, months before and a pic line should have been prescribed in addition to the oral antibiotics.

Outstanding Doc. Explained things thoroughly and clearly. Very personable.

Dr. Biggerstaff didn't hesitate to offer a treatment for ankle issues I've had all my life. His concern for walking health and comfort is unparalleled! He is a superb surgeon!!

Disappointing. Went on a referral from my PCP for a second opinion on chronic problems. Horribly overbooked, waited an hour. Then he hadn’t read a word of the info I had submitted online, so I spent most of my allotted 15 minutes trying to explain everything. Seemed impatient and dismissive. Referred me to a neurologist who does not specialize in foot problems. Looks like a dead end. I left in tears.

I have foot issues (bunions on both feet).

It did not take too long to see the doctor. All the staff was friendly and helpful. This was my first visit with Dr Biggerstaff. He was friendly, attentive and decisive. We only interacted for a few minutes and are moving forward with his recommendations.

Dr. Biggerstaff is always pleasant to his patients and attentive to conversations concerning the issues his patients have during care visits. Very professional. He also has a wonderful supporting staff that makes your visits much easier. I reside 60 miles from the facility and his staff reaches out by phone often to inquire about my needs and progress from previous visits. I would recommend him to anyone that needs extensive care for issues with their feet or ankles.

Minimum wait time. Explained in detail the injury and the various options for healing. Would recommend Dr. Biggerstaff in the future.

I saw Dr Biggerstaff yesterday for the first time. I had been seeing another Foot and Ankle Specialist in the Winston-Salem area for several years, (10+) with no relief and no answers for what else could be done for the severe arthritis I'm experiencing with my right foot. The injections quit working several months ago, and with no more answers I felt like I had come to a dead end. Upon seeing Dr Biggerstaff we discussed options for what could be done. He was very precise and very clear. I felt very comfortable with what we discussed and would recommend this Doctor without any reservations.
