Dr. Roth
It is my pleasure to highly recommend Dr. Roth of NJ Retina. Dr. Roth has been compassionate and clearly takes the necessary time to explain my condition as well as always answer all questions. I can honestly say, each time I have a procedure of an intraocular injection there is no pain or discomfort. In my opinion, just as important to the overall patient doctor relationship is the people working in the office. The staff working for Dr. Roth are always professional - all have been excellent. I believe the greatest compliment is to refer friends to a doctors office - I have done this and will continue to.

I found Dr Roth to be informative and skilled.
I was treated for a hole in my eye which was done successfully. He also referred me to a specialist to get my cataracts taken care of. I’m presently under his care and pleased with both doctors. I would honestly refer both to my friends,

Nightmare
The wait was 2.5 hours, but Dr. Roth was what made this experience so terrible. From the very beginning, he was snarky and rude. He was very rough when opening my eyes for drops and got angered when my reflex was to flinch and pull my head away. He said that I have a hole in my retina, and said to come back in a year to correct it. My previous doctor corrected hole and tears on the spot. I asked if waiting would worsen the hole, and he said "possibly." He kept my eyes open by digging a metal tool into my upper and lower lids. As you can imagine, this was painful; when I expressed this, he angerly said that it's standard. He told me what my condition is called and after I asked if it's likely genetic, he replied "Don't get excited. It's not definitely your condition." In short, I left his office in pain, untreated, and confused by the anger in this man. I'm assuming that racism played a part in his awful treatment of me.

Thanks so much to the wonderful and professional staff at NJRetina in Toms River. I was extremely nervous when I went for my first visit, but everyone there was so kind and put me at ease. They clearly explained every part of the eye examination and were considerate of my feelings. Thank you Dr. Roth and the entire staff for making a a difficult situation less stressful.
