Dr. Danielle Macina, DO

I would strongly suggest finding another doctor if you need to have your child diagnosed. The visits started off well enough but over time her cold and demeaning behavior became more apparent. She has a way of speaking that makes you feel stupid for asking questions and will outright not explain herself if she doesn't find the question important enough to answer. We also felt very rushed during appointments. On our final appointment, I asked a question and her response, or lack thereof, made me feel so uneasy that I decided to find another doctor.

As a medical provider myself, I am HORRIFIED by Dr. Macina’s inability to conduct a medical visit and her bedside manner. She was extremely condescending and rude for absolutely no reason. I was mortified by her behavior throughout the visit and could not believe what I was experiencing. If I behaved this way toward a patient, I would and should be fired. This physician should not be patient facing.

If i could give zero stars i would. I called Stony Brook and made an appointment because i generally trust Stony Brook and all my sons doctors are through them. This doctor is ill mannered, incredibly rude and condescending. She was incredibly unkind to my 4 year old son. I now have to start this process all over again. Do yourself a favor and trust the reviews. She is atrocious.

I normally look up doctors reviews but didn't for some reason. I will regret this forever. I don't know how this woman is allowed to work with children. Dr. Macina has no bedside manner. She was rude, unkind and unprofessional with both my husband and I and our young child. Only a few minutes into the evaluation and after a few minutes of knowing our child she labeled our child with ADHD. She spent most of the evaluation if you could even call this an evaluation typing and spewing questions in a robotic like manner. She also threw out the terms ODD and Autism for good measure. She disregarded our concerns and her mention of medication seemed forced. This was not a visit with a pediatrician but a business exchange. Shame on a hospital like Stony Brook to employ her. We are not parents in denial. We know our child. We are parents who wished we never stepped foot in this office and we wished we never subjected our child to this doctor.

Felt very rushed. Was not helpful. I felt like she did not care about my family. Did not like the classification or her recommendations.

I never leave reviews but in this case I I’ll make an exception because I would hate for any other parent to have the same experience as myself. Dr (and I use that term loosely) Macina had 0 bedside manners. Spent most of the time asking questions that had nothing to do with our son. The examination with him lasted all of 2 minutes. Scolded me for not having his most recent IEP which they already had to make the appointment. Was cold and mechanical. Maybe she should be a doctor in a lab dealing with experimental rats. She certainly shouldn’t be dealing with special needs children.

I was under the impression that doctor's offices were supposed to help people. I would have thought that an office that deals with special needs children would have some compassion. Not this office! Avoid it if you want to be treated with any humanity! A doctor with this little common sense should not be treating patients, let alone children.
