The afterhours call service staff - UNPROFESSIONAL
First Dr. Pugh is AMAZING. The afterhours answering service for Dr. Pugh's office is DESPICABLE. On Wednesday April 10, 2024, I started having diarrhea. By Thursday I was having diarrhea 3-5 times an hour. I called and spoke to Dr. Pugh's nurse, and she called in my prescription for Colestipol. The pharmacy tried getting ahold of Dr. Pugh's office 2 times regarding the directions on the prescription, once on Thursday 4-11 and once on Friday 4-12 via fax and no one contacted them back. I called them myself around 4:30pm Friday 4-12-24 I got the afterhours call service. They were very unprofessional and hung up on me and would not take the time to listen and hear what I was saying. All they focused on is that I said prescription and would not help me. Now I have an almost $1k emergency room bill that needs to be paid by the afterhours call service staff and the doctor's office for not contacting the pharmacy back. All I needed was for someone to care enough to help me.

In my opinion Dr. Pugh is unique in that he sincerely cares about his patients. He explains every detail and encourages his patients every step of the way. I listened to him and followed every suggestion he made and as a result I am up and getting around much sooner and easier than I would have expected. As a surgeon, he is great. As a doctor, he is the best.

Went in for a standard gallbladder removal. Dr Pugh cut a bile duct and didn't realize it, which led to severe near-death complications. No way to contact him after hours. Level 10 pain. A different surgeon had to do the emergency repair. Dr Pugh then lied about multiple aspects. Find a different doctor.

Dr. Pugh is a dr that you do not want to see. I had a surgery by him for a cist on my chest. Came back for a 2 week check up. He told me it was healing fine. I explained to him that I did not think he got all of it out he assured me he did. 1 week later I went to see him and told him it was not all gone. I had to pay $160 office visit to see him. I still have a cist on my chest at the end of a scar and of course it was not completely taken out as I was told. He is all about the money does not care about his patients and highly recommend you go somewhere else. Total of $4000 and I still am stuck with the same problem.

Highly recommended. I was under his care for a perforated colon for 15 days. He performed surgery on Feb. 4th. I received exceptional care from Dr. Pugh and his staff. I’m forever grateful for his professionalism, knowledge and care for me during my stay at UT Health.
