Dr. Shaffer has been my psychiatrist for 20 years. During that time he helped me discover how to love and trust in myself. I feel he truly cares about me both as a patient and a person. He's the most compassionate, intelligent, spiritual, fun, interesting doctor around. I don't know where I'd be without him!!!

He is the most amazing, calming psychiatrist I've ever had in the 20 plus yrs. Of seeing different psychiatrists across the country. I've been seeing him 7 years and he really cares. He goes above and beyond!!!

Dr. Shaffer challenged the snap diagnosis of “acute onset bipolar disorder” from the 1st psychiatrist who saw our 19-year old daughter when she came home from college in a manic state. After 15 min., he told us she would need to be on medication for bipolar disorder “for the rest of her life.” I called Dr. S. who disagreed. “I never diagnose a 19-year old with no history of manic episodes with bipolar disorder.” Our daughter refused Dr. #1’s life sentence & is now 30 with no recurrence of mania

Dr. Shaffer is not just an excellent psychiatrist, but more so one of the most admirable human beings I ever met. He has incredible skill in relaying to me that I am pretty great despite mental illness. He is a psychiatrist because of his compassion to others and not because he wants to control. I hope that I will have the privilege of being his patient for as long as possible. Thank you, Dr. Shaffer!
