I've had 4 orthopedic surgeries by different doctors and Dr. Awaya is by far the wost.He is arrogant and condescending. Very little empathy and till tell you the pain is all in your head.Went to another surgeon only to find my nerve was severely compressed. I may not regain full function of my foot again.

I would highly recommend Dr. Awaya
Dr. Awaya performed very complicated surgery on my husband’s spine 4 years ago. My husband was in a great deal of pain and it had become very difficult for him to walk. The surgery was an absolute success. He has been pain free since the surgery and walks 3 miles every day. I want to thank Dr. Awaya. Cathy Giuli

Rude and Condescending
Dr. Awaya was rude and condescending the whole visit. He was telling me how I needed to pick one thing to hurt because if I had both neck and back pain it was too much for him to deal with. Then he told me there was nothing he could do for me and rudely asked me if I’ve ever “tried ibuprofen”?? If I hadn’t tried all of these things why would I be there? And when I told him I’d be continuing PT per my PCP’s instructions he was dismissive and told me that I could only do PT so many times. He said my symptoms would come and go my whole life and told me to deal with it and then complained about the quality of the MRI he gave me. Super rude and a complete waste of time.

Little confidence in ability
The doctor appears to have little confidence in his ability as a surgeon. His office states the doctor will not give second opinions or do surgery if you have had surgery in the past. The office is just plain rude and doesn't pride this information without first wasting your time.

Dr. Awaya isn’t just ready to dive into surgery. I like the fact that he wants to get to know you first! I have had L4&L5 fused and have no pain. I have also had C5, C6 &C7 in my neck. it went very smooth. Sometimes my neck hurts, but thats just old age detertioration. i can acceat that! I would and have recommended him to a lot of people and they too, lime him as well!

I strongly recommend Dr Awaya because I believe he is the best in his specialty of work. He explains in detail what is to be done in a way that I can understand. His very knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, easy to talk to and always available.
