Needs to retire
I recently visited Dr. Darlene Sampson for a dermatology consultation, and unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed. While I understand that her specialty is dermatology, I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. She spent less than five minutes with me, seemed uninterested in my well-being, and appeared annoyed when I asked questions. When I brought up my concerns about my moles, she dismissed them after a quick glance and simply advised me to “keep an eye on them,” without offering a more thorough examination. I also mentioned my eczema flares around my eyes, which can be very uncomfortable. Since the flare wasn’t severe during the visit, she refused to prescribe the topical steroid cream that has previously helped, even after I explained that over-the-counter options had not worked for me. Instead, she suggested dandruff shampoo.Overall, I left feeling unheard and unsupported. It’s frustrating to pay a co-pay for a visit where my concerns weren’t addressed.

Horrible unprofessional dermatologist
I have been waiting for this appointment for months. My experience was unpleasant, horrible and disappointing. This Dermatologist should not been practicing. I been a patient of this facility for years. I’ve never been treated like this before. I went for moles on my back. She did an assessment without washing her hands went straight to touching me. Didn't even greet me. Gave me dumb advice when I asked about the possibility of having them removed. I worked in healthcare and I know that most insurance companies don’t pay for removal of moles. It was a waste of time to wait this long to see this unprofessional, uncaring person. I can even call her a doctor. have to pay for her rudeness? I agree with all the comments they have been made. Maybe it’s time for her to retire.

Rude dermatologist – Oct 31, 2024

DO NOT waste your time...run
I took my mother for a skin screening that was recommended by her primary. The moment Dr. Sampson walked in, she said WHO ARE YOU to my sister and I. We were startled and almost stood solute her! She asked what mom was doing there. I explained that her primary had given us a referral to get a full body screening and mom pointed out a mole on her back. Dr. Sampson was very rude to us. She spoke to us as if we were wasting her time. I will bring this up to the insurance company as well as the referring Dr. DO NOT waste your time with the 'DR.'

HORRIBLE
I have been waiting for this appointment for a couple months now. I took a day off from work.My experience was unpleasant, horrible and disappointing. This so-called Dermatologist should have not been practicing, come on United healthcare! You guys can do better than hiring her. She did an assessment without washing her hands went straight to touching my face with a hand that has a strong smell of tobacco. Didn't even greet the patient and went saying ' so your Dr sent you here?' it's as if you did something wrong, then starts giving me advises that even a teenager knows. Stated she will send a prescription to my pharmacy but has been weeks now and I never got any. I just wasted my time. I will have to change my whole family's health insurance next year. This is not acceptable. To those who read this, please do yourself a favor and find somebody else, I should have read reviews first before showing up to this appointment. Believe me, your time is precious to be wasted.

Unprofessional horrible so-called Dermatologist – Jun 14, 2024

Communication and Compassion would go a long way.
Not so great after months waiting for an opening from my referral from Optum. I was referred to Dr Sampson. On my first appointment I went in for a growth on my lip that went away once then came back. She could not tell me what she thought it might be caused from. Which is ok but then I asked her if we could remove it today. All she said was that is was going to bleed and measured it. Then took me to her assistant to book an appointment 40 days later. So on my appointment 40 days later I show up and it had almost gone away again. I was hoping to find out what causes this and how to deal with it.The nurse told me she had scheduled a biopsy for today which I was never told about and she had no idea what caused my issue or any explanation. When looking at the form to sign it said it may cause a scar and Im thinking I don't want to risk it with her, when it's almost gone and may be resolved soon. Probably a good decision after reading these reviews.

Unprofessional relations with patient
This Dr. would not work with me as a patient to perform a service requested that all other dermatologist in my past have provided as a service. Her conduct and attitude was not pleasant. I read reviews of her from other patients and did not want her as my doctor, but the office said I had to see her before any other doctors. Go to a different facility for better service.

Stay away!
I went in for a skin screening and skin concerns. I have psoriasis and alopecia. She said that I have to check myself not her and as for my alopecia, since hair is growing on some spots that there is nothing else to do. She said that I have eyes to do that and if i have a concern that i need to then come. I told her my concerns and she said I can treat that by myself with OTC creams. She said that I need to go to some person who can extract my milia and that she doesn’t do that. I was told by my primary to come here and she said my primary didn’t know what they are talking about. Got dismissed and got denied care.

Extremely rude
My mom went in for an appointment to check an overgrown mole which even the primary MD said it was skin cancer. Dr Sampson was extremely rude and dismissive about the whole situation and didn’t even ask my mother if she can pull her shirt down to see something else in her skin on her chest. She claimed that the spot on my mother’s head was just age spots and nothing more even though she barely examined it and I am a nurse and I clearly know it is not that. She did not seem to want to be there. My mother felt disrespected and completely upset about the whole situation. If I could give zero stars I would.

My wife went for a moles screening. She suffers from alopecia totalis. An auto immune disease. She doesn’t have any hair and needs to wear a wig. “ dr” Sampsons told her she didn’t believe it and asked to remove the wig causing so much emotional distress and disrespecting her. We never experienced something like that in our whole life. The most incompetent and unprofessional person ever dealt with. Just disgusting. Stay away and don’t give any money to this miserable individual.

Worst Care - BEWARE
I’ve never left a negative Dr review before, but after my recent visit I just could not get over how rudely and negligently I was treated by this provider. After my visit I went online and was not at all surprised at all the other negative reviews. Absolutely worst experience with a Dr ever. Never felt less cared for and left the office immediately needing a visit with another dermatologist. I came in for a full body cancer screening and after 5 minutes of her berating me that the first skin concern I brought up was insignificant, then acting completely ignorant about a hair condition I have - she attempted to end my visit. When I asked her to do the full body cancer check that I scheduled my appointment for, she said “I already did”. I was fully clothed so unless she has X-ray vision she showcased extreme NEGLIGENCE during my visit by refusing to examine me. Avoid this doctor if you value your health and need a professional evaluation.

Very happy with my experience!
I've had numerous surgeries over my lifetime, each by a different physician. I couldn't care less about whether or not a surgeon is likable or charming, as long as he or she knows what they're doing. Personality will not save my life but a gifted surgeon might! In my opinion, Dr. Sampson is both extremely likable and a gifted surgeon. She recently removed a cancerous growth from my shoulder. When she first came into the room, she noticed that I was extremely nervous. She immediately put me at ease with her kindness, then performed a flawless and painless surgery, while being comforting, understanding, caring and even funny. She and her sweet assistant had me chatting and even laughing throughout the procedure! So, while this was not a huge surgery, I was terrified when I arrived and elated when I left. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Sampson to anyone and I will certainly return to her if I ever have another unwanted growth!

Great Doctor and Staff!
I had a consultation with Dr. Sampson today. I was referred to her by my PCP. Her office was able to accommodate me for an appointment the next day. I was nervous this morning after reading reviews of this doctor. I decided to ignore them and just go to get it over with. After my appointment this morning I felt obligated to post my impressions of Dr. Sampson and her office. I cannot relate at all to the negative reviews. I can say from my own experience that Dr. Sampson and her staff were friendly, professional, timely, and sincere. I feel very well taken care.

Worst Doctor EVER
I am a very young adult, and going to appointments by myself is new to me. When I met Dr. Sampson, she asked what the reason for my visit was. I went to show her the mole on my face, and she immediately told me to "Leave your mask on while you talk to me" in the coldest way possible. I asked her if I could audio record our conversation since my mother was out of state dealing with my sick grandparent. She told me absolutely not. I understand that privacy matters, yet it was just a conversation about my face. I told her about the spots on my face and she appeared to be shocked that I asked her if they could be removed. She removed my mask for me without asking if she could touch me, and the whole synopsis of my 3 minute MAX visit with her was anything removed on my face would leave a scar. My appointment was at 4:50, and the office "closed" at 5, so that's probably why my appointment was short. Please do not go see Dr. Sampson. The other (majority) 1-star reviews will say the same.

Disappointed
First visit was due to crusty skin on legs - seborrhea (?) When I asked what could be done, she said, "you are old" It turns out using a stiff brush helps a great deal. Next visit was for a rash - she gave me some free samples of skin creme left by the RX company. She also noticed I have several large skin tags - but offered no treatment. Did not feel at all 'cared for"

Worst doctor visit ever
Do not waste your copay on this condescending doctor that offers no help or advice about your condition I am not sure why she is still practicing medicine since obviously she does not want to do her job. I asked her then what do you advise I do nothing? She was said she was not saying that but did not offer any solution only to come back if the issue persists. Gor what to hear the same thing again? NO THANKS!
