Dr. David Avery, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Avery for two years. I have been treated for mental health for about 15 years, and while medication worked somewhat, I was still stuck. Dr. Avery changed my original diagnosis, and I started an entirely new medication and have been doing much better ever since. I wish I would've started with him from the beginning.

He's great and responsive. People complaining about billing in this forum should refrain from doing so as it does nothing to help others find the right help they need.

The problem: his eccentric billing procedure. It's the provider’s responsibility to keep track of time. When a session is ending, the provider says something like “Our time is about up, so we need to be wrapping up our session.” If the provider continues at an additional cost to the patient, he must first advise the patient of this when the time has expired. Dr. Avery told me at the end of the last session that he was adding a charge for extra time. He had said nothing when time had expired.
