Gross Neglect
I saw Dr. Burks in 2021. My symptoms included difficulty speaking, parathesis, limb weakness, and cognitive impairment. Despite being engaged in therapy and psychiatry, Dr. Burks insisted my issue was mental not neurological. Due to his insistence, I engaged in TMS and other higher level treatments with no benefit. In 2022, I had multiple additional stroke-like episodes that the hospitals dismissed because of Dr. Burk’s records. In Winter 2022, I nearly died from a dissected vertebral artery, and Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome. My symptoms nevertheless persisted, and in Winter 2023 I sought out a new neurologist who actually listened and did not dismiss my issues solely because of my mental health history. In Jan. 2024 she detected a corticotroph Pituitary adenoma. On April 15 2024, I had surgery to remove it. Cushings Disease recovery is difficult. I have been told if it had been detected earlier it would be easier. The CT Dr. Burks ordered in 2021 showed signs of it.
