Dr Chestnut did an eye lid lift on me Dec13 2024 he started surgery at 1:30 pm and called my husband just before 2:00 to say surgery was complete. I woke up before surgery was finished with much pain as I told him no help as they finished my stitches. Do not recommend him he hurt me it was unbearable.

completely inadequate patient care
I am surprised by the reviews I am reading, as this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a provider. My partner and I went in, after the long wait of getting in to see a specialist, hoping to find answers about her major eye issues (she had seen multiple doctors prior to this). It was evident from the beginning that he had not read her chart, and he was clearly uninterested in hearing any of her history or her symptoms. He rushed through a single test, declared that her eyes were actually fine, and said that she could take this 'good news' back to her doctor to see what they suggest. He did not answer questions, did not help consider what else might be causing the problem, and was clearly anxious to leave the room. As someone who deals with doctors a lot, I was stunned. My partner was left feeling unheard and gaslit, and she left in tears. Her eyes are very much not fine (as per prior doctors), and now we will have to wait to get in to see a more competent specialist.

Thankful for his expertise
I have numerous eye issues the worst being ingrown lashes and blopheritis. I have been to several doctors seeking help and advice. None of them were able to treat my lash issue. It is extremely painful. Dr Chestnutt took a great deal of time with me on my first visit and successive appointments and immediately came up with a treatment plan. My eyes are so much better since I started seeing him last year. I am so thankful I was referred to him and won’t go anywhere else.

I have seen Dr Chestnutt for years after seeing numerous opthamologists who did not diagnose my problem mostly from not listening to me trying to explain underlying thyroid condition. Dr Chestnutt listened, checked my eyes and immediately knew what the problem was and corrected it with several surgeries. I have continued seeing him for other eye problems and find that he’s always very patient and caring. He also is great about seeing you quickly if a problem occurs. I would highly recommend him. He’s tops in my book.

My experiences with Dr. Chesnutt, at UNC-Chapel Hill, were stellar, and so I was chagrined to learn a few minutes ago that he is no longer there, and I may no longer seek his counsel. And apparently I can't email him in the Waynesboro clinic – hence this "review." I wanted to ask him whether the pressured feeling around my eyes could be the effect of accumulated stress from dealing with my diplopia from Parinaud's Syndrome? I have been doing extra "pencil push-ups" to strengthen my muscles.
