Dr. David Congdon, MD

I saw Dr Congdon about my clogged ears. He took out the wax. He then looked up my nose for no reason and charged me $345. It was unnecessary and he also used the incorrect code so he could upcharge. The code he charged for required a local anesthesia which I definitely did not get.

Dr. Congdon repaired my deviated septum and allowed my nasal passages more room. He doesn't like to answer your detailed questions. He just expects you to trust him and whatever he tells you, because he is a very arrogant man and seems to be full of himself. Although I disliked his personality more than any doctor I have ever met, he did do a very good surgery on me. I had a doctor in Iowa City look over the final results of my surgery and answer all the questions in the detail I needed, because I felt very rushed by Dr. Congdon's extreme impatience. The Iowa City doctor assured me that my surgery from Dr. Congdon (3 years earlier) result looked very good, showed very little scarring, and healed very well. My passages were fully open and clear. My problem now is more of allergy issues directing me onto another path.

Working on breathing through nose issues. He is excellent at his job. He does tell it like it is but I like that. He is there to do a job, not be your best friend. Don't agree with some of the low reviews.

I thought Dr. Congdon was the most abrupt, arrogant and condescending medical practitioner I have ever seen.

Make sure you get a second opinion about your issue you are having. He looked up my nose for 2 seconds and said you have a deviated septum. We need to do surgery and basically walked out. I wish he would’ve explained things better and I wish I would not have done the surgery it’s very painful because finding out later I did not need it that bad. But it’s easy money.

I took my 80 year old mother to Dr Congdon for a basal cell consult. He was very courteous and explained everything in detail to both of us. He even noticed that my mother was hard of hearing so he spoke loud enough for her to hear him. He did a wonderful job of removing the cancer. His staff members were all very professional, helpful and courteous as well.

Pleasant and to the point. Very knowledgeable.

I’ve had headaches and allergies my whole adult life and I’m 59. I don’t have headaches anymore and am on allergy drops so there are no physical signs of them either. I cant say enough good things about him and his his office.

Have always received excellent care from everyone in Dr Congdon's office! Always takes his time to explain what he wants to do.

I was very happy with the whole experience. I received information via the mail before my first visit. Lots of education during and after my first visit, the allergy testing and surgery to repair my nose. The office runs pretty close to on time for appointments and Dr. Congdon and staff are very friendly and helpful. I really CANNOT say enough good things about the whole experience.

Condescending and doesn’t take the time needed to address concerns

My experience with Dr. Congdon was great! My surgery went well. I am noticing improvement with my breathing and my sinus infection frequency has decreased dramatically. Worth the discomfort of surgery/post-op visit. Many thanks!

I saw him twice. He may be Mayo trained but is one of the most arrogant people on earth. I went up to Mayo directly rather than deal with him again. The staff is just fine. Dr. Hart (same bldg.) or Barnard (Covenant/Wheaton) have just as good credentials, but they are both nice. I'm not friends or family of any of them, I just wanted to give my honest review. I went to Dr. Congdon to address the ear infections/hearing loss that I was struggling with due to sinus infections. When I met with Dr. Congdon, he was extremely arrogant & rude. He repeatedly asked me the same question over & over again, after I had explained that I didn't know. When I did give him an answer that he was less than pleased with, he actually gave me a sarcastic response. His office then proceeded to move my following appt. multiple times. I finally said screw it & cancelled.

So when I read the reviews I was a little nervous to bring my little girl to him to get tubes. I AM GLAD I WENT TO HIM! Dr. Congdon and his staff were AWESOME! He explained everything thoroughly and answered all of our questions. His staff is also awesome. They followed up on us frequently to make sure we were comfortable and didn’t need anything. Great experience and I highly recommend him. He has made a lifelong customer (should we ever need him again!) and advocate!

The care I received from Dr. Congdon and his entire staff was very good. The atmosphere was always positive and helped to make me feel less stressed.

Dr. Congdon is a very good Doctor and extremely knowledgeable in the field of cancers. He advised me of the surgery that he was going to perform on my cancer and what to expect afterwards. I would highly recommended Dr. Congdon and his staff .

Dr Congdon did a wonderful job of removing a squamous cell cancer above my eye. I have no scars and no return of cancer. His PA Meg Heatly is great as is all of his staff.

I actually saw Trish-Dermatologist. She has a great chair side manner and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a Dermatologist in the Cedar Valley!
