Would NOT recommend Dr Heligman
Waited 45 minutes and when we did see him he was not prepared with MRI results he promised he would look at. Most of the appointment he had one foot out the door. Tried to ask questions and he seemed annoyed. had actually seen him a week prior for a knee issue, this appointment was for shoulder and when patient talked he did not listen.

Dr. Heligman
I love Dr. Heligman and his PA Jodi. They have helped me so much with my treatment for knees, shoulder and forearm. I am pleased with the outcomes and have them to thank for being able to walk today after a very significant femur fracture. If I could give more than 5 stars I would

This doctor should be avoided. He simply is not a very good surgeon. He attempted surgery for my broken wrist (distal radius fracture) that occurred 1/6/20 on 1/21/2020 and it did not go well. I ended up flying back home two weeks after surgery to see the specialists at University of Michigan since I couldn't move my fingers. After reviewing their x-rays, they said it was an "adequate" job; but they would done things differently. I was told it would take long time in therapy to regain good range of motion of my hand and wrist. I spent months in physical therapy, but had to have more surgery on 8/31/2020. I hope this surgery turns out better.

I have seen Dr. Heligman on more the one occasion over the past few years but the last time was the final. I made an appointment back in May/June? for pain that I was having in both thighs. Unfortunately when I arrived I was told he was not available but a PA would see me. She went over an x-ray with me and said she thought I had something coming from my back. She prescribed a medi pack of a six day steroid treatment. A week or two later, since I did not experience any relief, I made another appointment with Dr. Heligman. It was apparent from the time he walked in the examining room he had other matters on his mind. He did a very quick exam and told me I had "irritated" thigh muscles. He offered a medi pack and I told him I tried that. I then asked him if any kind of PT would help and he said I could log on "you tube" and look up some exercises. At that point I felt like I was summarily dismissed. I have since been diagnosed with arthritis in my hips and need double hip replacement.

He left the thumb and first two fingers of my left hand permanently numb after simple arthroscopic carpel tunnel surgery. He displayed no concern for for my hand, denied that he did anything wrong, and tried to push me off to a pain control doctor (which was not appropriate for my situation). He never followed up with me in any way or took any responsibility. He was unconcerned and even flippant about it. Makes me very very angry to even think about it.

I broke my femur while clowning around on my mtn. bike. Dr. Heligman and his PA sidekick, Jodie Spatharos did a fantastic job putting things back together and guiding me through the healing process. It took longer than I thought it would, but I'm back to 100%! No words can describe how grateful I am to these two [along with so many others who helped me along my journey back to completeness].

Dr. Heligman fixed my broken leg from a skiing accident. From start to finish, the process was amazing. The staff was so courteous and professional each and every visit. My leg heeled perfectly p like he said it would. I highly recommend him as an orthopedic surgeon.

I had rotator cuff surgery on a full thickness tear of the supraspinatus clearly visualized on the MRI. Anesthesiologist was excellent, good nerve block. Surgery went without a flaw. Very minimal scaring. Dr. Heligman and his PA Jodi are both excellent. No BS, questions answered and of course accurate in their prognosis. Now full recovery depends on the patient and their commitment to physical therapy and exercise at home. 2 months out and I am very happy with my progress. Great group.

Our experience was very disappointing. Dr Heligman was dismissive and condescending. Told us he sees 50 patients a week with sciatica. When asked directly about the MRI results which showed a pinched nerve in my husband's sacral spine he stated it was nothing to worry about and ordered narcotics and PT. We are now scheduled to see a neurosurgeon for the pinched nerve that was nothing to worry about.

My experience with Dr. David Heligman was terrible. He carelessly ripped off my bandage without knowing the extent of my injury. He told me that surgery was my ONLY option. Dr. Heligman pressured me into scheduling surgery for the next day. I found out that the surgery that he tried to get me to do was unnecessary for my recovery. I would highly recommend avoiding Dr. Heligman at all costs!

I have waited over two hours to see this doctor, and he could care less. He comes in the room, asks two questions, then stands with his hand on the doorknob. When asked general questions, he condescendingly replies, and attempts to leave the room. No concern over me (the patient) or my injury. I will never use him again!

I have had two surgeries with Dr. Heligman. I never had any complications. Scarring was minimal. He is a caring Dr. and is always willing to answer any questions and address any concerns. I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends. I have talked to people in physical therapy that had the same surgery that I had with another Doctor and they have horror stories and terrible scarring. I wouldn't choose a surgeon until you get an opinion from Dr. Heligman. You owe it to yourself

appt. with Jody, Estero office. 11:45 appt. Did not need to update profile. Did NOT see dr. until 12:30 ! Un-acceptable ! If I ran my office (DDS) patients would leave... I would have, except drove 30 minutes. Scheduling appointments needs to be re-evaluated.
