Dr. David Kastenberg, MD

After several months of declining I finally got him to send me for a test. He & Cheri assured me the test was normal. I did not feel comfortable in their care. They both are arrogant and it’s how dare you question me. Upon finding another GI his test was read incorrectly and I absolutely 100% have the condition him and his nurse assured me I did not. Go with your gut and don’t listen to these two. I never had a pleasant visit with him. The arrogance and incompetence he should have to take classes!

I would give this man zero stars if I could. Long story short, it took him 3 years to finally decide to listen to me and my symptoms and give me a colonoscopy. I was instantly diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Afterwards I had asked him if it would be contributing to my excessive fatigue that I was experiencing. He told me there was no way my UC could cause fatigue because it wasn’t “severe enough”. After trying multiple medications and not receiving complete symptom relief, he told me that as long as I wasn’t bleeding he wasn’t changing my medication. I was still experiencing many other symptoms so he threw random meds at me and said he would never put me on a biologic since my disease wasn’t severe enough. I’ve found another GI and am now on Remicade AND methotrexate. Don't let him make you doubt your symptoms!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Kastenberg for about 5 years. I can say that he is a superb doctor, of the highest caliber, and has done a significant amount to help me through difficult GI issues. He is incredibly caring, respectful, smart and dedicated and I feel fortunate to be among his patients. He is one of those doctors that are quite rare, his patients are lucky to have, and one that other doctors also respect. Great guy.

Told me he that food was not related to Crohn's disease, my symptoms were not related to Crohn's. I asked for a referral to the GI nutritionist - who told me that lots of Crohn's patients DO HAVE FOOD ISSUES and she recommended diet changes that WORKED! I've since left Jeff GI for Marcus Inst, also at Jeff, as they understand auto-immune disease. Once I pushed back about my care the staff became discourteous and multiple faxes from my insurance co disappeared mysteriously.

Been my doctor for years, always attentive and makes explanations that I can understand.

I absolutely cannot recommend Dr. Kastenberg enough!
