The 1-star does not apply to Dr. Nelson as it wholly applies to Village Medical! I called Village Medical and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Nelson who is my PCP with Ambetter. I made sure that Dr. Nelson accepts Ambetter and gave them my insurance information and everything was confirmed for 12/13/21. When I showed up for my appointment, I was shocked when the attendant said that Dr. Nelson does not accept Ambetter and she quickly tried to hook me up with another doctor or a physician assistant. I told her that I am here for Dr. Nelson and that your office confirmed that he accepts my insurance. Again she coldly apologized while tactically offering me another doctor! I have heard horror stories about Village Medical and should have expected such cheap shots. Basically, they will secure you an appointment and after showing up, the front desk will assign you to a "NOT SO BUSY" doctor in their staff. Nothing personal Dr. Nelson, but u are associated with a bad medical office!

I have been going to Dr. Nelson since 2003 because he listens, asks questions to find out additional information that I may have not provided, and he then explains the course of action for my health. He has been a wonderful doctor for all these years and I highly recommend Dr. Nelson for his depth of knowledge and the care received at his practice!

I chose this doctor because of all of the good reviews. Im highly disappointed. The pleasant experiences described in the reviews are not at all what I have experienced or my husband who is also a patient here. The staff is incompetent. You cant get proper help. Nobody knows anything. I called to make an appointment I gave the name address phone number. She tells me no that's not the number she has. Confusing bc I dont use any other numbers, however, I gave her other phone numbers. Receptionist advises sorry she cant help. I ask again are you sure you dont have this number, I repeated again. She replies "okay, what can I do for you?" Really?! That was the exact number I gave the 1st time. They have claimed on multiple occasions that I & my husband need to be treated right away, however, let them check to see when they can get me in and they promise to call back but never have I gotten a callback. I have to follow back. Ive been hung up on. Lack of ethics & morale. Poor communication.

Was told to come in by a member of the nursing staff via the patient portal. I sent 2 very detailed messages back verifying this. I was assured each time to come in to the office that it wouldn't be a problem. When I got there I was told that I had been "dismissed" as a patient and that the doctor would no longer see me. When I asked why, the lady at the front desk said it was because I had 3 missed appointments over a period of a year and a half... When I asked her why I was told multiple times through the patient portal to come in for a visit... She told me that she was looking at my account and that those conversations never occurred. She was basically calling me a liar to my face in front of all the people in the waiting room. So I attempted to log in to my patient portal to show her the messages, but she had already deleted my whole account. I've been a patient at Village Family Practice for 16+ years and of Dr. Nelson's for almost 2. I believe I was treated very unfairly.

Dr. Nelson is by far the best doctor you could have as your primary care provider. He listens to your concerns and is not hesitant or scared to prescribe what he thinks you need. Some doctors are so scared to get in trouble, they compromise patient care by refusing to prescribe medications that are in the best interest of the patient.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nelson's since moving to Houston 2 years ago. He was recommended by my pharmacist. I have gotten 2 annual physicals and medication refills. The office staff is very friendly, and they actually know what they are doing. They are courteous and professional. The office is very neat and clean. I like that they have an in-house lab. It makes it sooooo much easier and faster to have labs drawn in the doctor's office.

I have been a patient for well over 15 years. Dr. Nelson has always been professional and prompt with responding to your needs. Never a long wait time. Very flexible with prescribing meds without always the necessity of an office visit. He is open minded and has a very pleasant bed-side manner. I am very pleased with his services and his office staff.
