lacks compassion for patients
Dr. Shepro denied routine screenings necessary to monitor and identify where the cancer is spreading to. His reason for denying my pet scans is that I’m cured with stage 4 cancer. That’s alarming to hear from a medical professional that regular screening isn’t needed. I normally wouldn’t leave a review lien this but my biggest concern is that if he’s denying my coverage, then he must be doing so to many more women that deserve the care.

Denial of Stage 4 Breast Cancer Treatment
Stay away if you lack compassion. Dr. Shepro, employed by Evicore, denied the critical treatment needed to survive Stage 4 breast cancer. He claimed PET scans were no longer necessary. This is alarming and fundamentally wrong, as Stage 4 breast cancer is not curable and demands continuous monitoring to manage its progression. The emotional and physical toll this has caused the patient is immense; they already face the daunting challenge of battling a life-threatening illness. To add to that, navigating the overwhelming bureaucracy of healthcare while dealing with arbitrary decisions from malincentivized bureaucrats is unacceptable. This situation exemplifies a shameful lack of empathy and understanding from those in power, showing how disconnected some healthcare providers can be from the reality of patient needs, even those who hold doctor degrees.

Thinks stage 4 breast cancer is curable
Dr. Shepro who now works at Evicore seems to think MBC, stage 4 breast cancer is curable despite general oncological knowledge and practice. He has on behalf of Evicore and Cigna denied routine, life saving pet scans for stage 4 breast cancer patients like myself. If you want a doctor that puts profits over people, then he is the right man for you.

Delayed my Care by Refusing MRI
This retired doctor now works for Evicore which does pre-authorizations for exams. He refused an MRI C-Spine for Flexion and Extension views for Cervical Spine Instability because a regular MRI C-Spine was just done. He does not know the difference. He has delayed my care. He was not qualified to weigh in for this exam since it is out of his Scope of Practice.

Dr Shepro is confident, professional and thorough. I could tell he was well respected by his colleagues. He seemed to really care, and treated me as a person - not as just another patient. I would highly recommend him to family and friends.
