Where is Dr Sobel now?
I was going to dr sobel for years from when his practice was private to meridian.Medical care has not been the same in that office. Lacks empathy and care is minimal.

Dr Sobel has been my internal medicine doctor for some 40 years. He has always given sound advice and referrals. Now I hear that he was forced from Hackensack Meridian health shame on Hackensack for putting dollars ahead of patient care. He also cared for my sister who was a RN and taught at NJ's medical school in Newark. I too worked in public health for a large part of my career and have experienced the good and bad in the medical field. I plan to try to locate Dr Sobel and have my records transferred.

Dr. Sobel is FIVE STARS and is a wonderful, caring and very knowledgeable physician. It is impossible to get in on a single days notice or even in a week. Dr. Sobel will prescribe over the phone but his partners will not do so if he is absent. If he is on vacation for a week and you have a chronic condition that occasionally flares up, you will be referred to emergency walk-in care to face a doctor without your medical records and who is unlikely able to diagnose you condition. If the emergency care is unwilling to prescribe your usual medicine, you are out of luck. If has happened to me on more an one occasion and is a serious flaw in the practice protocol. the PRACTICE FOR THIS REASON ONLY GETS TWO STARS.

Ever since they got bought out by Meridien Health, it's impossible to make an appointment with Dr. Sobel. Dr Sobel is great! I can't stress that enough, but it takes 3-4 week to get an appointment with him, whereas before they merged with Meridien it would take 1 week tops. Most of the old office staff and nurses aren't there or are rarely there anymore. If you talk to anyone other than the Practice Manager about referrals you will just go in a cyclical argument because they think they know what they're talking about but they don't because they cut you off before you can finish your question/statement and give you the wrong answers or answers irrelevant to the question you want to ask but can't ask because they talk over you. Only talk to the Practice Manager about referrals and paperwork otherwise the woman who answers the phone will be rude and mean to you. I'm already stressed about being sick and calling them makes things so much worse.

Dr Sobel spent over an hour with me on my first visit. He listened and asked questions and was very attentive to my questions and medical needs. He went over my tests thoroughly and I found him very reassuring and trustworthy.
