Dr. Dean Filion, DO

I came to him with intense back pain 10-06-21. After hearing my history: COPD, former smoker & witnessing my horrendous chronic cough, he was shocked to learn my then Primary hadn’t taken so much as an x-ray, during a recent visit when I complained of back pain & a worsening cough (nor during the prior 4+ yrs he was my Primary). Dr Filion immediately did a Chest x-ray, which showed a huge lung mass & 2 days later I finally had a chest CT that showed cancer. I ultimately received a stage 4 diagnosis, with a spinal lesion and compression fracture, which might have paralyzed my legs, had Dr Filion not acted swiftly during my first visit. I fortunately have a terrific team at MSK and have responded well to treatment, however, my initial prognosis was not good. I owe Dr Filion my life and was initially too freaked out to properly thank him, so I am doing it now.

I’ve been going to to see Dr. Filion, for many years and always happy . Today I had a few questions that I was curious about and he answered each one giving me his full attention. Thank You Dr. Filion. I appreciate how kind and respectful you are.

I first went to Dr. Filion for a 2nd opinion a couple of months ago & can’t say enough great things about him & his office staff. He performed a physical/ functional exam, listened acutely to my replies to his questions about what was troubling me, then walked me through my MRI disc on his computer monitor, explaining everything in detail, then summarizing with the surgical recommendation that would be inevitable. He prescribed physical therapy & meds to reduce the inflammation & pain until such time that I could schedule surgery. His office staff was great in providing samples to ensure the meds worked for me prior to my having to spend out of pocket for something that may not be effective. Thankfully, everything was very effective. I was shocked to read some of the derogatory reviews from above, almost as though they were referencing a totally different doctor and office staff! I recommend Dr.Filion and his office staff without reservation.

The doctor and his office staff were very friendly upon arrival. I needed an EMG and the entire time during the test, he explained the procedure and the results.

Best orthopedic doctor... I was 32 and arthritis is my knees and could barely walk. Dr. Filion pretty performed a miracle with the shots he put in my knees. Also he super respectful and kind.

MARYANNE the receptionist is unbelievably rude and would never recommend this office to any patient. She is sarcastic and this is not the first time I hear a patient tell me they had an awful experience.

Dr. Filion saw child complaining of heel pain. He diagnosed it as Sever's disease without taking x-rays. Went to a podiatrist for a second opinion. X-ray showed a stress fracture.
