I reacted to the COVID-19 vaccine and had my care team tell me to stop getting them. From there, I was referred to allergist Dr. Oberdoerster. It took 6 months to get a virtual appointment. She struggled with the tech and hadn't looked over my history or referral before the appointment. We spent the whole time working the kinks out of her Zoom and everything I put on my pre-appointment paperwork. She got hung up on dates and timelines and interrupted every few words because she couldn't take notes and type at the same time (1 finger typing.) I got nowhere in my appointment and just rehashed my paperwork. With no tests and nothing other than rehashing one situation, she said well it's better if you get the vaccine, anyway. Which felt like agenda-pushing when my care team said the opposite. I was unable to solve my issue of reacting to several medications and was still charged for the appointment.

I transferred from the Jackson Allergist due to moving closer to Ann Arbor and I regret everything. I would have kept the hour drive bi- weekly for my allergy shots if I knew what was going to happen. So I transferred my allergy serum to Dr. Deborah Oberdoerster as of February. I went thru the whole new patient process which included me telling her about my history of allergies and that I had already been getting the shots for about a year and a half. I also told her I was on my maintenance dose so I was now receiving them every two weeks. Fast Forward one- two months where I run out of my serum and the nurse giving me the shots says to make sure I call before I come in the next time to make sure the serum has been delivered. Everything is going great, my serum is in, I get back into the office to receive my shot and the nurse asks if anyone has gone over the timeline to receive my shots. I said I know the timeline, I come in every two weeks. She said no, you come in every 4-10 days now. I'm like no, there's no way. I'm in the maintenance dose and I've been doing this for a year and a half. The nurse then informed me it was a different serum they ordered so I would have to start COMPLETELY OVER. The last year and a half of shots meant nothing. All of the money I had paid in shots and serums was pointless. I kindly stated I'm not starting over, I'm transferring back to the other allergist so I can continue with the time I had already invested in the shots. She went back and spoke to the Dr. for 15 minutes and came back to tell me I still had to start over but I could come in twice a week to build up quicker. I laughed and said no way. I still received the shot that day because I was at my two weeks and not getting a shot would have put me over how long I'm supposed to go. It is not my fault they could not order the same serum. I should have been informed of this before even coming in. I should have been asked if this was something I even wanted before completely disregarding the last 18 months of shots I had committed to. They are now billing me $220 for the serum I did not agree to. The nurses are nice but be prepared to have 0 communication along an unsympathetic Dr who does not care about your time. I am transferring back to my other allergist and not paying for the level one serum they ordered on their own. Avoid this place.

Great for complex care
Dr O.has been my immunologist for over 20 years She always takes the time to fully understand and to explain complex medical issues. She is very dedicated and followed up on weekend with home calls. She also help me while on her personal medical leave when I was waiting for Cancer biopsy results. She is up to date with current immune deficiency recommendations and treatments. Yes sometimes the wait is longer, but I appreciate that she doesn't rush patients in and out. Great for complex care.

Terrible appointment. You wouldn't think a doctor would be behind for a 10:30 am time. She was late. Paperwork was 4 sheets. My hour appointment lasted just shy of 3 hours! I waited through 6 interruptions by nursing /medical assistants. Each time the Dr left door open, until it was fully open. I never saw her wash her hands even though she went to other patients. Staff discussed patients with door open. While she asked me a barrage of questions, if I asked a question of spoke, she interrupted me. She questioned all my previous testing including skin biopsies and diagnosis by other University of Michigan specialists. She was condescending and wasted my time going over other department diagnosis. I only came to her for immune system which she did not addressin3 hours.

After a 45+ minute wait, Dr Oberdoerster entered the exam room with a chart and ask my husband and me who the other was! She then left to get my chart. I spent over 2 hours filling out the ridiculous redundant paperwork that she never even glanced at. She seemed to be in a hurry to dismiss me and did not listen to my problem which was evidenced after I read my visit summary. I could not recommend her to anyone and am very disappointed. I called 1week later to get test results and never got t
