We couldn’t have asked for a better doctor to perform surgery on our infant daughter to resolve a hernia. Dr. Merianos was so kind and communicative. He explained the entire process, thoroughly answered all of our questions, and made himself available for any follow ups. He truly calmed our nerves, and we are thankful that our daughter was in such good hands.

Dr. Merianos was amazing throughout every step! When we first met him in the emergency room with our 12 year old son he took his time with our son and answered all our questions and prevented an emergency surgery that would be done at a later date!( he even gave us diagrams) He made us and our son feel very calm and confident in him explaininh evrything in detail before and after the surgery as well! We can not thank him and his team at NYP enough! They were amazing!!

He was very insensitive toward my son. He was continuously touching and squeezing my son testicle for long time and testicle turned red. My son was very much in pain during the visit. I told the doctor he is in pain and he still didn’t let it go and still touching and squeezing it. We had very bad experience. After visit I asked my son and he said pain was awful. I had restless nights. I would NOT recommend Dr. Demetri J. Marianos to any one.

Dr. Merianos is incredibly knowledgeable to discuss necessary treatment while also helping his young patients to feel at ease. My daughter was recently treated and we were very happy with the entire experience. I would highly recommend him!

What can you say about the surgeon who swoops in, reassures you and puts you at ease, explains in laymen's terms and in great detail the very rare (but thankfully repairable) defect your daughter was born with and the surgery to correct it, conducts the surgery masterfully and expeditiously, and meets you after with great sensitivity, levity and kindness? My wife and I will always remember Dr. Merianos as one of the most amazing individuals and incredible doctors we have ever been lucky enough to come into contact with, especially during such a trying time after discovering something was amiss with our 9-day-old daughter. Dr. Merianos made my daughter feel safe and comfortable. He and the staff at the NYP explained the procedure in a way that took away any fear or concerns. My daughters operation for her 2 hernias went very well. Recovery was easy and pain minimal. I would very highly recommend Dr. Merianos to any parent that's nervous about their child having surgery.

Dr. Merianos was referred to us by my daughter's endocrinologist Dr. T. Shumaker. I can not recommend Dr. Merianos and his staff and team enough. When our son was one month old, we found a bump on his right eyebrow which appears to be a dermoid cyst. We were very nervous and were referred to Dr. Merianos when our son was three months old by our pediatrician to discuss the treatment. Dr. Merianos is very patient and professional. He explains the process of how to remove the cyst, the suggested timing of removal, the operation timing, the possible effect of anesthesia (which is none) and how the scar will be hidden in the eyebrow. He sent us links of research to reassure us. We felt very comfortable and decided to have the cyst removed when our son was around five months old. The surgery was very smooth and short and Dr. Merianos answered all of our questions before and after the surgery. Our son waked up from the surgery without feeling any pain and behaved just as before, healthy and active. The scar is hidden in the eyebrow and it's very hard to be noticed. We are very happy and feel relieved.

We notice a buldge in our newborn infant’s pelvic area. We took her to the pediatrician and turned out to be a hernia. We were referred to dr.merianos and we couldn’t be happier. He explained everything very well and was super clear about the procedure. I couldn’t be happier with the care we received.

Dr. Merianos was referred to us by my son's pediatrician. Best referral ever! Dr. Merianos had been following up with my son regarding 2 small hernias. When the decision, to have them repaired, came up I had everything explained so thoroughly that I did not hesitate to move forward with the surgery. Dr Merianos was amazing, our son had a burst appendix and was in terrible pain, terrifying. Dr Merianos helped make the call to check for appendicitis and caught what the pediatrician missed! Dr Merianos saved him with a brilliant surgery at midnight, but in addition was extremely calming, communicative and kind. Many surgeons would have pushed the surgery until the next day as the antibiotics allowed flexibility with surgery time, so we were also grateful that Dr Merianos got it over with. Today our son turned the corner and seems much better after days of pain and misery, a rocky road to recovery. Talking to Dr Merianos two days after the surgery also helped a great deal. He was patient with many questions. We feel very lucky. We are extremely grateful to him for saving our son.

Dr Merianos performed the Nuss Procedure on our 14 year old, march 2022. From start to finish everything went smoothly & successfully, and this was in the middle of a pandemic. Our son is recuperating beautifully & despite all our worries before the surgery, we are very happy with the results and would do it again.

Our family cannot sing Dr. Merianos’ praises loud enough! He cured our son of a very special, abnormal case of Hirschsprung’s Disease. Before the intensive surgery, he went to great lengths to be especially considerate to us …. extremely emotional, sleep deprived, nervous new parents living in the NICU …. explaining what his thought process was at every step; including holding our hands during diagnosis, drawing diagrams of our son’s exceptional circumstance, providing treatment options, checking in multiple times a day to prep us and our son for the surgery, calling us at certain milestones during the surgery, and setting our son up for success for the rest of his life (he had to relocate the small and large intestine, so he had the foresight to remove our son’s appendix because in thirty years a doctor won’t know to look for it’s new location). Not a day goes by that we don’t think about how grateful we are that Dr. Merianos was our surgeon.

My 7 y/o daughter had inguinal hernia repair a couple of months ago this summer. The surgery went extremely smoothly. Within a week she was playing outside with her cousins and then off to 4 weeks of summer camp. Dr. Merianos and his staff took the time to answer all of our questions and make all of us feel less nervous going into the surgery. He also gave the same care and attention at the post-surgery follow-up appointment.

Thank you for communicating so clearly, our 13 year old son had a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and you walked us through all the minute details with related outcomes and what to expected. Dr. Merianos is just absolutely wonderful. He is obviously a very talented surgeon, but also has a tremendous bedside manner that was simply invaluable for me and my son. My son had surgery this month for a ruptured appendix. The experience was rather traumatic for me, and from the moment that we were connected with Dr. Merianos, he was a calming presence for all of us. He made my son feel secure, and was very thorough in his explanations of what had occurred, and what we should/could expect for the recovery process.
