Bad experience
I spent 45 minutes trying to find her office. After arriving a paper sign said she moved to this other address. Once I found the new one the staff was rude and said my appointment was rescheduled to the following month. I never received any email or phone calls to confirm this so called rescheduled appointment. I just wasted 3 hours of my morning.

Didn't even see the Dr. and I wouldn't recommend!
After leaving your office, since you had no record of my appt., I was hopeful I would receive a phone call from your office, or better yet, from Denise Barnard herself! In my mind that would have been the courteous and professional manner in which to have somewhat appeased me and attempted to rectify an unfortunate and frustrating situation. In reviewing my emails from LifeStance Health, seven in total, my appt. was made almost 3 months ago. Additionally, 3 email appt. reminders were sent for an appt. that obviously didn't exist! The other unnerving and uncalled for mistake is the incorrect office address on your appt. reminder email, was also incorrectly spelled Sterling instead of Stirling. Since this has happened to others, why wouldn't you post a sign on the Stirling door giving the correct office address! I understand you schedule only one new patient per day and that's the reason no appt. was available for a month. No exceptions, please! I guess I'll find someone who cares...

Disorganized and Cold
She seemed completely unprepared even though my current psych had sent her all of my information. She told me I had "too many diagnoses" and questioned the validity of one of them despite my having a professional diagnosis and extensive proof of a history of this condition. She also said many factually inaccurate things that led me to feel uneasy in her care: that antipsychotics could not be prescribed for depression, mixing up bipolar and borderline, incorrectly identifying a medication as not an SSRI when the manufacturer's website said it was, etc. I felt unsafe and that she didn't believe most of what I said. Stay away.

Dr. Barnard is awesome! She helped my family member get on a path to an improved quality of life. When people are faced with mental health challenges and everyday stressors, life, COVID, etc., life can become increasingly more demanding and difficult to cope with and have a sense of normalcy. I am so grateful for her medical expertise and openness. She is an expert and exceptional in her field!

This was the most unprofessional and unethical display of “psychiatry” I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. I sought her help for serious mental issues and failed to fill out forms because I’m experiencing an actual mental crisis, and they cancelled my appointment with no warning and didn’t tell me until I called 20 minutes after my appointment time. I called multiple times to return their earlier phone calls and couldn’t get a hold of anyone to save my life. This is absolutely astounding. Absolutely ridiculous. People come to psychiatrists for help. These people are clearly more interested in making a buck than helping out their patients and thanks to them, I have no one. Do not select this “doctor” if you need someone reliable.

Current patient of Bernard. She is rude, dismissive and so old school on medication. I have diabetes and she has been zero help with that. Bernard prescribes old school drugs that are addictive and not good for your physical health. My last visit I had to chose between being able to function and bring healthy. So a band aid temporary fix until I can find a real psych doc that wants to help. She adds in too many antidotes such as she hates men and gives personal advise. I suggest that you run.

Dr Barnard should not be practicing psychiatry. She is rude and mean I left her office crying and feeling worse than before I went in. She lacks compassion and empathy and I cannot believe this is her profession. Please beware if you are in a depressed state and need help DO NOT go to her for help

I had to provide my RX history for her to see via my smartphone on my walgreens app...no joke. "It takes too long to pull it up here" was her reasoning. Never has a medical pro not done the due dilligence of verifying a patient's medical history beforehand with e documents from the DEA especually with all the staff they have. She was cavalier, dismissive, an uncaring. Im 15 months from becoming an M.D. This is the worst i've seen. Im filing a complaint with the FL Board of Medicine

Very straightforward in a rude way. She dismissed me in 3 minutes. Maybe she was having a bad day? She was even late to my appointment. I would not recommend her so please be careful with who you choose for your psychiatrist.

Dr. Barnard has been seeing me for over 2 years. Her professional and kind manner is a breath of fresh air. I've seen other in the area and she is the one that has helped me and given me my life back. When I first started seeing her I was not able to function. Now I am free to have friends and a wonderful social life. I even am able to work a full time job. Dr. Barnard is so warm and welcoming, very safe and calm. She is very skilled and talented. I highly recommend her.. Dani

The first time I saw Dr. Barnard, I was completely impressed with her attention to the details of my history. I have seem many doctors in the past but she really took the time to review my file and was already aware of my history before I got to my appt. She was polite and soft spoken and made me feel very comfortable. We discussed the use of new meds that might be more helpful etc.. I found her to be kind and very pleasant. I would highly recommend her.

I'd avoid her for 2 reasons: 1.Her office is completely incompetent. They'll bill you random amounts & not be able to explain what you're paying for, then correct it. It's also impossible getting help over the phone. She'll say to call the office, but they can never do what she says. 2.She really doesn't diagnose you. She's very dismissive & rude. Especially if you're looking to begin treatment for the first time, I'd look for someone else. It'll be less hassle and probably more helpful for you.

I was unaware of my diagnosis until now,and looking back- i realize this: Dr Barnard is friendly, has a caring posture but I had a nagging feeling that I wasn't being treated. Moving meant finding another doc and I confirm this: Dr. Barnard is NOT safe because she is dismissive, unskilled ie she did not perform a basic assessment ( i know what that looks like after being seen by a real doctor ). I 'm trying not to be harsh but If you have a choice, please choose someone else. Good luck.
