Dr. Chan was not only nearly impossible to get ahold of, and took 6 months to see with an urgent referral; he was extremely incompetent during a surgical procedure. He was the doctor that performed my colonoscopy, and when it was clear that my sedation metabolized in my system too quickly and took no effect, he completely ignored my screams and proceeded for 30 minutes to do the full probing/biopsy while one of the attending nurses held my hand, apologizing profusely and trying to get his attention. 30 minutes of a fully conscious colonoscopy, and he carried on like there was nothing out of the ordinary. After the colonoscopy, he gave me a diagnosis which, the current gastro on my new insurance plan, believes to be a completely negligent prognosis. I've now been attempting for months to get my colonoscopy imaging and biopsy pathology results to provide my new gastro so I won't have to do yet another colonoscopy in the same year, but Dr. Chan's office refuses to give me that information without scheduling an appointment (which I'm unable to do, as his office is no longer in my network). This guy should not be allowed to work as a doctor.

This doctor seems doing his best to save as many patients as he can. LA has very few gastroenterologists, especially experienced ones in my area. Maybe you know many but they might not accept your insurance. Dr. Chan accepts it! Dr. Chan communicated nicely and patiently, at least with me. I have waited for around an hour and half. I know many patients including myself were not happy about the wait time but think about it when no other gastroenterologists accept your insurance and take longer time to schedule an appointment, you think back and should really appreciate Dr. Chan. As for the staffs, how can you expect them to smile at you in every minute while there are so many patients waiting to see Dr. Chan. I think their attitudes were nice enough! Maybe I was lucky having good staffs that day. Anyway, I do appreciate their help and feel blessings. Wish everyone being healthy and peaceful in the new year!

My initial meeting with Dr. Dennis Chan in his practice: I must confess his team is very punctual in keeping exact appointment time, I was impressed to be called in to see him at the exact time. Every one was very efficient in the fast processing of paper work, and then met Dr. Chan. I saw a man who was diligently processing a report, with his assistant carefully taking notes. He kindly greeted me and made me feel comfortable and asked what was on my mind. He responded with accurate knowledge, and a date was set for him to perform a colonoscopy procedure. I was impressed of His kindness as an honorable man, as a doctor with so many years of experience, and all the team which stood together by him. On the day of the procedure, I was there on time, and the front desk greeted me kindly and welcomed me, in no time I was prepared by very kind and helpful nurses for the procedure. Dr. Chan came and he said it will be a breeze, just trust me, which I already did. He took his time to inspect my colon thoroughly, while conversing with me he was finding things which I did not see on the monitor. He was fast and quick in detection and removal of polyps. Without pain and major discomfort, the procedure was over, while our conversation continued. He was kind and understanding, I must say it was God’s providence to be treated by him. I do not believe he needs my recommendation, or my praise, because he is a humble truthful man and a truthful experienced doctor. I thank him and the whole team for treating me gently and talking with me kindly and doing all perfectly. My recommendations for him are not enough to value a person and a doctor like him. May God bless them all.

Worst doctor ever
very unprofessional doctor. I made an appointment with him and he made us waited for more than two hours. When I finally got to see him, he was chatting with office clerks, didn't care that his patient has waited for more than 2 hours. He didn't answer any questions or give any advices. Please do yourself a favor, find another doctor, don't waste your time with him!

No Medical Advice Provided.
I went in today for preventive screening. Was called in and the NP went through the standard health questions on BP, Diabetes and family history. Then I told her I was here for preventive care recommended by my family doctor. She said that colonoscopy was not covered by my insurance and did not offered colon screening which was covered by insurance. She asked another office assistant to talk to me and said colonoscopy was not covered. I do not necessarily need one and asked what other preventive care can be provided. The NP just walked away. There were no medical recommendations for any other form colon cancer screening whatsoever. I requested for a refund in copay as they did not provide any medical advice. They said they have render their service. The NP just asked me the standard health questionnaire questions. Insurance information could have been vetted prior to my visit. The staff is very unprofessional. If you can, find another doctor.

Dr. Chan performed a colonoscopy on me a decade ago, and he was so expert and gentle that I was able to have it done while awake without anesthesia (at my request), and I felt absolutely no pain and was thrilled he let me watch the scope go through my GI tract. He was friendly, professional, likable, and highly informative. I think I need another scope up my kazoo... it's about that time, lol, and since I have Anthem Blue Cross, I'm looking forward to having Dr. Chan do his magic again! 5 stars!
