Uncaring. Dismissive.
Dr McCarley has little-to-no interest in actually helping patients. He hears, but doesn't listen. Doesn't really care what the patient needs. Typical of many providers, he collects a generous paycheck while adopting the 'do nothing' approach. DO NOT recommend. Zero genuine empathy. Zero desire to truly assist. It's his way or no way.

I see Dr. McCarley on a regular basis. He's been able to help me with my chronic depression. He's caring and listens to my symptoms and problems. My past medications were not helpful and he was able to safely change my list of meds altogether. It's left me with much better mood overall. I my opinion he is the best that I've ever seen and have a great deal of respect for him. Plus he has a good sense of humor.

Phenomenal doctor. I have been to 7-10 psychiatrists, he is the best! Very easy to talk to and exceptionally smart. He is willing to take your concerns with medications and his own recommendations and go over what he AND the patient are comfortable trying. I also love the fact he refreshes his memory of the patients chart before the appt, there is no need to waste time talking about the same things each appointment. All around awesome guy, I feel really lucky to be under his care.

Dr. McCarley has honestly helped me so much, and is the best doctor. The whole staff has made the experience so much easier since I was very nervous about scheduling an appointment because I have never been seen for mental health. I highly recommend Dr. McCarley to anyone who would like to see a Psychiatrist.

His is a nice man and he has a good sense of humor. I have been seeing him for several years. After a recent crisis my spouse and I went back and reviewed the visits with him and found that on many occasions he was simply unwilling to listen. Concerns were brushed aside and this last time that happened it was almost deadly. If you are very strong and able to have a support go in with you every time to advocate for you I would see no problem with using him. Short of that, be careful.

In my visits with Dr McCarley, he was unwilling to listen, or take into account existing medications and only interested in instantly putting you on HIS idea of what is right regardless of know efficacy of current medications. He also EXPECTS you to quit taking medications cold-turkey...just because he doesn't believe in them. Bad practitioner. Would not recommend for ANY reason.
