Dr. Dennis Metaxas, MD

While receiving an epidural in preparation for my daughter's recent and first delivery at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital, all was well until we met Dr. Dennis Metaxas. Dr. Metaxas came into the room with a very negative bedside manner. When my daughter asked him to walk through the process so she could understand what to expect, he commented, “I'm just going to do it.” Then, he proceeded to do the procedure and appeared irritated when my daughter would flinch at him, sticking the needle in her back. He was rude to her and fiance. The interaction was so negative that even our sweet nurse appeared shaken after 3-4 attempts. He finally got the placement correct, but the road to it was unkind. This is a serious procedure and should require a physician to have a demeanor that is gracious, kind, and compassionate. If you are allowed to request a more suitable physician, please do so!

Dr. Metaxis was extremely rude and disrespectful. He was the serving anesthesiologist for my incarcerated hernia surgery. When he looked at it, he made the comment " oh look, another unnecessary surgery" despite it being severe. He also made comments that wre anti-vaccination which were not even related to his services. His bed side manner was atrocious.
