I had a really good experience with Dr. Spencer, my frontal lobectomy was a success and I enjoyed working with him.

I saw this man (won’t refer to him as a doctor or surgeon) years ago after I had a grand mal seizure which I had due to an avm in my left temporal lobe. He insisted that I needed surgery immediately or face dire circumstances. I didn’t trust him. I later found a surgeon who reviewed Spencer’s notes. His notes said that he would touch my optical area but the avm was in the language area in the left temporal lobe far away from the optical area. My instincts probably saved me from someone doing something pretty sick. While he works at Yale his character and decency is low. The way he spoke to was intimidating. I’ll never forget it. Do NOT be impressed by the name of the institution, look at the decency of the human who would treat you.

31 years ago, I was reborn. I had seizure surgery to remove scar tissue, and I have been seizure-free for 29 years. Dr Spencer has gifted hands, great bedside manner and post surgical care. No more limitations. Only the sky is my limit. God bless him!

Dr Spencer recently did brain surgery on my daughter. He was recommended to us by an acquaintance who has worked with Yale neurosurgical patients. He was wonderful! The entire experience- starting from the appointment pre-op, the surgery, the post-op care at Yale, and the follow-up visit were all 5-star. He is kind, patient, thorough, and most important, extremely good at what he does. He answered all our questions (and we had a lot of them!) and never made us feel rushed. Highly recommend

11/21/83 - After the team at the YNHMC Seizure Clinic uncovered what had eluded some ten different neurologists up and down the East Coast for years, 33 years ago today, Dr. Spencer's steady hand removed a glioma tumor from my right hippocampus, putting an end to the roughly 3500 seizures that had disrupted my life the previous 4+ years. At barely 26 years of age I was given a new lease on life thanks to this gifted neurosurgeon. I remain eternally grateful for how he changed my life. Carey B.
