Hip Replacement
Arrogant! I had significant peroneal nerve damage after hip replacement. Upon waking up from anesthesia I was unable to lift my foot! An outpatient surgery which turned into a 4 day hospital stay. The pain was horrendous for many months from the actual surgery and the resulting nerve damage. The nerve damage is still present after 1.5 years, and I have poor balance and walk with a limp! Dr. Johnson's attitude was one of total disregard and disrespect.

I had only mild knee pain in my left knee and I didn't need surgery and my knee was sturdy. Now due to his and his PA injections my knee caves in the other way and I have excruciating pain. They severely damaged my knee.

He did my right knee replacement 8-5-15 and left knee replacement 4-20-16. Both experiences were absolutely perfect, worked my tail off post surgery and have not looked back. 5 Stars

Knee replacement. Great surgeon and result was amazing. I walked without a walker immediately. No pain, except day 3. Expert at his job. Recommend him highly.

I had hip replacement surgery in December 2019. My hip was broken during surgery and missed by Dr. Johnson. In addition, I told the hospital staff that something was wrong the day after surgery and was ignored. Dr. Johnson's staff continued to ignore my repeated complaints about pain and something not being right for 6 weeks. The break in my hip was found at my 6 week follow up. I have been in physical therapy for almost a year and continue to limp and live with pain every day. Avoid this doctor! I would give zero stars if it would let men.

Dr Johnson did a labral repair on me two years ago. I had initial reservations due to his cocky nature and disorganization of staff/communication. I went ahead and wish I didn't. He did a poor "repair", I never really recovered, and months later my PT sent me to a doctor who works on the Nuggets who discovered the tear wasn't even repaired. That's why I didn't get better. My new surgeon went in there for several hours fixing Dr. Johnson's job and clearing out scar tissue. I healed quickly and was finally repaired and my socket truly reshaped! When in the hospital with Dr. Johnson, they forgot to add all of my medicines, a nurse almost infused me with a different patient's IV, and Dr. Johnson was nothing short of a jerk when no one was around and I was vulnerable in the bed. AVOID this doctor. His demeanor is unacceptable and he is not at a proper skill level for complex procedures. You may need corrective surgery in a year like me.

I broke my femur as a result of a bad fall. Dr. Johnson met me in the hospital, reviewed my xrays with me and suggested that I also replace my knee since it was very arthritic and had been bothering me for many years. The combination of the femur + knee replacement was very complicated but the outcome was fantastic! I’ve had no issues since I healed and my 1 year follow up showed everything in great shape! Dr. Johnson is all business and a very good surgeon. Personally I’d rather have that than a good bedside manner. His PAs, Kristin and Robert are excellent! His office may appear like a factory but his staff is very efficient in every aspect.

The first time I went to talk to Johnson I thought he was a very kind person kind of cocky but I really thought he would change my life I injured my knee by falling on metal rhubarb he told me my meniscus was torn I got injections he tried to replace meniscus it didn't work then he did injections which gave me some relief short. Of time then he did a full knee replacement but before doing a full knee replacement he told me that I would have to have a half knee replacement I trusted him DrJohnson has changed my life in the worst way possible matter of fact he has ruined my life I would not ever recommend him to another patient he's not considerate and I wish I would have went with his other colleague he doesn't stand by his word I had some legal things going on dr. Johnson wrote a letter stating one thing about my knee and then turned around and contradicted himself which made my legal team question the kind of person he is I give this doctor one star

My partner had hip replacement surgery on 12/9/19. Dr. Johnson hadn’t even met with his patient until that day. The anesthesiologist; apparently, didn’t know that he had scoliosis until that day either, despite the numerous checkups prior to the surgery. 10 mins prior to the surgery the anesthesiologist was trying to figure out how sedate him. He suffered a stroke during surgery, impairing his cognitive ability. The stroke robbed him of his memory, Right handed dexterity, peripheral vision, as well as the ability to read and write. I feel guilty every day for not following my initial instincts with the number of red flags on the day of the procedure. My naïveté and faith in medicine was that someone; in his early 40’s, could undergo a relatively common operation without catastrophe. The unprofessional approach by Dr. Johnson and his team has shattered that belief. He never met with his patient before the surgery, nor did he meet with him after his surgery.

Terrific. Second knee replacement 1/14/19, first one about 5 years ago and in both cases had no post operative problems. Outstanding Joint Replacement Program . So happy to recommend you to those in need. Great office staff and assistants. You and your program are the best.

After over three years of severe pain and unable to walk without assistance, I chose to see Dr. Johnson regarding knee replacement. It has been one of the best decisions for my overall health and ability to participate fully in my life again. I have been so satisfied with my results that I have already scheduled my other knee replacement.

I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Derek, his PA's Kristen and Robert and the front office support team. The positive impact the surgery has made on the quality of my life is so significant and thus far I still frequently recall what it was like and am so thankful. Pre replacement my activities were either very limited or really painful. My hip is like that of a healthy 16 yr old, amazing. He treats all patient, incl. Medicaid with dignity and respects. Kudos

I know "miracle" should be used sparingly but that's how I feel. I tried to let my knee heal for over a year with no luck. I was anxious about surgery but after an MRI and consulting with Dr. Johnson I had a partial left knee replacement. After surgery I had a balanced and normal walk and my severe back pain was gone. One week later I was easily working. I am so grateful for the skills Dr. Johnson brought to my procedure. Anxiety gone! Thank You Dr. Johnson and Team Johnson!. :)

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Johnson. He was amazing from beginning to end. I would also recommend the anterior procedure (which Dr. Johnson does exclusively). The level of care and kindness from the nursing staff for me was unprecedented. They were amazing and made me feel comfortable in an otherwise stressful situation. I want to thank all of them for being so kind.

I went to Dr. Johnson back in 2011, for extremely bad knee pain. And not knowing what to expect, he recommended that I needed knee surgery to correct a severe problem...Bone on Bone in the joint, plus my leg was 15 degrees out of being straight. I was scared to the point of not knowing what to do. Himself plus his team reassured me things would go well, so I had the surgery, no infection, my leg was straight ( new laser technology ) I was up walking the next day, at the hospital. Ten Stars !!

Dr Johnson did both my knees prior to 2013 (full replacements), and only 3 months apart. He is amazing as is his assistant !! They were both pretty much pain free surgerirs and he has an excellent pain management plan. Recovery was very fast and at 45 yrs old..i was amazed at that. Its been yrs now and i can say after hearing of nightmare stories of other Drs, the pain afterwards, i am so glad i went to Dr Johnson instead of another Dr. Cannot recommend anyone better !!
