I went to the freestanding ER at Medical West for treatment of severe abdominal pain. I had a great experience with Dr. Patterson. I found him capable, personable, and polite. He took excellent care of me. He answered all of my questions. He diagnosed my condition and treated me for it. I am extremely satisfied with Dr. Patterson and with the Medical West freestanding ER. I have been there before and have always received excellent care there. This time, and each of the previous occasions, the nurses, the technicians and the entire staff were wonderful.

Dr. Patterson was quick and adept when addressing my medical need. He was thorough, personable, and sympathetic regarding the concern. He addressed all questions, and was expeditious with a comprehensive treatment plan. I have two prescriptions, a tetanus booster vaccination, and a referral to a surgical specialist for follow up. Dr. Patterson explained I should return to the ER if I have new or worsening symptoms; otherwise, follow the treatment plan & schedule the follow up consultation on the next available business day (It's Saturday, and the specialist's office will be open Monday). I have great respect and sincere appreciation for the quality of care I received. Thank you UAB West for employing Dr. Patterson's skill, quality of character, and high degree of professionalism. If Dr. Patterson practiced as a primary care physician, I would gladly choose this doctor for our family's primary care. In the meantime, I am so grateful for the prompt care and consideration. Thanks again.

Dr. Patterson is unprofessional and rude. To make a long story short, I took my boyfriend who suffers from GI issues that have yet to be diagnosed to the ER at UAB West. Dr. Patterson was unable to find the source of my boyfriend’s pain, nausea and vomiting so he came into the room and asked him what kind of drugs he was coming down from?! We had been at the ER for two hours and had never even seen or worked with Dr. Patterson prior to his rude and insensitive comments We left feeling hopeless.
