Dr. Derrick Adams, MD

He was the assigned Hospitalist for my 89 year old mother at ShorePoint. No communication from his office despite daily requests . Staff did not respond to nurses page for help with my mom. I have never experienced such poor communication or care from a doctor and his staff. Even the staff at the hospital was not surprised by the lack of response from this Synergy group.

Very unhelpful while in Shorepoint. Had to discharge myself. Could not be found to do it.

Spent extra time in the hospital because he failed to ok the discharge!

Because of Dr. Adam’s failure to communicate with me, my father suffered a terrible death, that could have been handled more humanely through a hospice referral. I’m haunted by my father’s last days. No dignity, no loved ones and too much pain and anxiety.

My father was under his lack of care for four days and we never once got any communication with him. There is a list of things that went wrong. This guy doesn't care.

Dr. Adams is a "hospitalist" at Bayfront Port Charlotte. When a patient's primary doctor does not make hospital rounds, or is not on staff, he is called in. He has been involved with my husbands' health care more than once. This last time was terrible. Because of COVID we could not go with my husband. There was absolutely NO COMMUNICATION between our family and the doctor. My husband, who has some dementia issues, told one of the doctors his back hurt, and they started treating his back; when his problem was a bowel obstruction. They were going to give him more oral laxatives, when he had had four at home, plus a suppository. My husband had a list of his medications with him. My husband did not get any of his required insulin or heart medicine until the middle of the second day he was as the hospital. They finally started giving him all of his meds on the third day. I strongly recommend he start involving family members to learn background of patient before he treats them.
