This doctor never told me to stop taking Atenolol after I had a heart attack and received a stent. Atenolol caused me coronary artery spasms that can bring on a heart attack and feel worse. For 4 years and numerous trips to the hospital where I received one cardio cath after another he never discontinued the medication. After 4 years I finally decided to see another cardiologist. Within 5 minutes of my visit he told me Atenolol was the cause of my spasms. It was discontinued & no more problems
