Beware
I was never informed by Dr. Lester, the installing orthopedic surgeon, that my 2003 hip prosthesis had failed. I was always told by Dr. Lester and the radiologists reports that all was fine even though it was never fine. In a 2021 review of my copies of earlier annual x-rays, read by radiologists and then sent to Dr. Lester, it is clear that it had become detached from the hip, rotated and started its migration up the pelvic bone creating a groove as it went within the first two years. I worked hard at maintaining its stability, had no other experience with a replaced joint to compare to and was fairly functional until 2020 when my leg length discrepancy started increasing dramatically. The situation is now dire. A revision surgery at this point is drastic and questionably successful, especially at age 85. Why Dr. Lester never informed me of the situation, and in a timely manner when the prosthesis could have been easily and successfully repaired, is known only to him.

I was born without a hip socket and the head of the femur was deformed. Had many hip surgeries and body casts, as a child, but to no avail. I walked with pain every day until it became unbearable. I was TERRIFIED to trust another surgeon with my hip! In 1994, I went to Dr. Lester. His enthusiasm and confidence also scared me as I'd seen it before in other surgeons. I actually cried all the way into surgery! That was 24 years ago, and I've never had pain in my hip since. HE'S THE BEST!!!

Dr. Lester performed hip replacement surgery on both hips during 2011. Surgery was easy and recovery was quick.

He may be highly medically trained but he has some of the worst bed side manor I have ever experienced. Dr Lester seemed more interested in telling me a personal story about himself than listening to what my issues were. At one point he even informed me that I was not in pain. He then said and this is a direct quote Don't be a sissy. It's amazing he can tell what someone's pain level is after spending less than 30 seconds with them. Absolutely unprofessional.
