Rude beyond belief
Telehealth
Dr. Wallens is unbelievably rude, rushes me off the phone every month, and refuses to listen or genuinely care for my needs. The guy schedules appts every 8 minutes and is making out like a bandit without providing any real care. If you want someone to berate you on the phone every month before giving you your pills this is your guy but if you need someone to really listen and work with you on a plan to improve your mental health I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

An Amazing Doctor
I had my first appointment with Dr Wallen via telemedicine and I couldn’t be happier. He was thorough kind and professional. I will be continuing with monthly medication follow up visits. If telemedicine is something that works for you I highly recommend this doctor.

Never listened, failed to ensure my safety
Long story short- I called him in crisis and he essentially blamed me for it, did not make sure I was safe, and did not offer any other treatment resources/next steps. After multiple visits to different medical facilities looking for appropriate care, I was psychiatrically hospitalized for the first time in my life. Months of of his lackluster and insufficient care finally came to a head in the most traumatic way. Please advocate for yourself and find a medical professional who genuinely cares about your health and safety.

Thank you, Dr. Wallens
My experience with Dr. Wallens has been exceptional. As someone who's dealt with psychiatrists a great deal since being diagnosed in my 20's with ADHD, I can say that the majority of those experiences have not been good. Dr. Wallens could have retired a long time ago, and chooses to continue practicing and working with people on medi-cal, not because he has to, but because he wants to. He's thorough, caring, and methodical, and prioritizes cognitive and other interventions above passing out pills like candy. Five stars in my book.

Atrocious man and please believe the reviews!
Rude, not compassionate (ironically in this line of business), and does NOT LISTEN at all! NOT WORTH the phone call.

He very mean. Dude is always rude and he told me today he’d rather me have a seizure from gabapentin withdrawls than refill it because I missed an appointment, after speaking to him. Very unprofessional and rude, the most attitude I’ve ever seen from a “professional.” You will see what I mean within two conversations, I recommend somebody else before it becomes a problem.

I found Dr. Wallens to take a good history, but the office is not organized, couldn't keep track of requests for medication refills, and I constantly had to call the office to approve refills. The office doesn't respond to emails and it's extremely hard to get a hold of the doctor between appointments. As my condition doesn't require frequent visits, but regular refills, I had to switch doctors.

He shuffles people in and out for medications and doesn't ever seem to know what he most recently prescribed me.

I found Dr. Wallens professional, knowledgeable, experienced in his field and was pleased with the amount of time he spent with me on my initial visit. He listened closely, took many notes, asked many questions and came up with a treatment plan which I'm currently following. He is not a warm and fuzzy doc but does have a very humorous side. Overall, to date, pleased with Dr. Wallens.
