Probably the most arrogant and judgmental doctor I've ever had the misfortune to have. Sent me for a test that he neither explained nor would he refer me to a specialist for an explanation. When I expressed concern about the test results he mocked me. Took him two weeks to prescribe a med that he suggested. After I had asked how much time we had left and I told him I had four more concerns he stood up and walked out without warning.

Doctor Penate is a great medical professional. He is very clear in getting you the best treatment. He is an awesome listener and does not rush to get you outside the door. I really like his demeanor and the time he takes to explain everything to you.

Best Doctor
Dr. Penate truly shows compassion and listens to you. I never feel rushed with him and he is extremely intelligent. He’s comforting and calm. Honestly the best doctor I have ever had. I wish I would have found him sooner!

Judgmental and impatient. He’s also patronizing in the way he communicates. Made a joke about a medical procedure that I had (that was a success). I saw the other bad reviews here and thought it would be worth telling my story.

If I could give Dr. Penate a 10 I would do so. He was very thorough, understanding and did an outstanding job making sure I took the proper steps of preventive medicine. His communications skills were easily understandable and he is very approachable with a good sense of humor. Dr.Penate practices with some of the best medical minds in Chicago who are not only practicing physicians but also educators.

He is arrogant, not caring and does not listen to your concerns, just wanna get rid of you as a patient, judgemental and pushy, definitely not gonna see him anymore, avoid if you care about your health!!

This doctor is nice enough but if you are plus size steer clear of this doctor, EVERYTHING is blamed on weight. He is judgemental when dealing with patients of size and has some very skewed opinions. I know I need to lose weight but don't need a lecture at every visit. I told him this and told him I'm very aware of my size, he seemed offended/argumentative and didnt do a full physical after that and just sent me on my way. I will definitely be finding a new doctor after this appointment.

i have worked with Dr. Penate as a main team member thru several major illnesses, both involving hospitalization. he has excellent bedside manner and was readily available to answer all questions and concerns. i had been without a PCP for many years and it took a great deal of research to find someone i felt meshed with my health goals.

Dr. Penate has been great to manage my care. Whenever I go in he is happy to take as much time as needed to answer all my questions. He is very prompt to respond to any issues I have whether on the phone or through the online portal. His office is very modern and clean, and the wait times have always been minimal.

Dr. Panate takes the time to explain the issue and presents a plan that actually makes sense. He is always very attentive and willing to take the time to answer questions (I had a lot of questions). I would recommend him to anyone seeking a primary care physician.
