Caution
Dr Peterson replaced my right hip. Prior to the surgery, my legs were equal length. After the surgery my right leg was 1 inch longer than the left. Since the operation, I went to a second surgeon in Boston who stated that the hip socket was installed too low and the stem was too long. Fixing the leg length discrepancy will require removal and replacement of all 3 implanted parts. Additionally, due to the significant discrepancy, the shoe orthotics (adding an inch to the sole) is not covered by insurance.

You need to know this
My experience was negative. I was left with drop foot from his performing a hip replacement on my left hip. He apparently would not or could not acknowledge what happened. He instead complimented me on how well I could use the walker. He offered nothing at all addressing my drop foot. It's now 11 months since the surgery and the neurologist no longer is projecting a 100% return to normal (which I had prior to the surgery). I did find a malpractice settlement exactly one month prior to my surgery and a daughter's comment on her mother's drop foot (by same surgeon) after a massive search. Neither was available when I had done searches prior to surgery and neither are mine. Also prior to my surgery, Dr. Peterson never mentioned the possibility of ending up with foot drop, this may have altered my decision to have the surgery. At the very least I would have been more prepared for the possible results and consequences.

Dr. Peterson really listens to his patients. I was extremely nervous about being put to sleep for surgery and he was absolutely amazing and stayed by my side until I was asleep. Dr. Peterson is a class act with bed side manners like NO other doctor.

Great surgeon, would 100% recommend him. However be prepared to deal with his office staff who is condescending, rude and controlling. It’s unfortunate that such a great Dr is assosciated with such poor workers.
