He has been my doctor for over 20 years
he has been my doctor for over 20 years. I was diagnosed with bipolar one disorder at age 14 and have been on many different medication’s because my body would adjust to the medication no longer work in the past four years there has been a new discovery with medication and I found the perfect medication that has worked for me for the past four years thanks to Dr. Sears. I was younger thinking that he didn’t care but I figured out that if I’m open 100% and honest with him, he will do everything he possibly can to help you get better. I have lived a good normal life thanks to Dr. Sears. I am now working full-time, going to collage and not having to worry about having any episodes. I take a injectable every two months and don’t have to worry about taking a daily medication. He might be blunt but he really cares and knows what he is doing. I will forever be grateful I have my life back thanks to him.

I saw Dr. Sears at age 14 and found him to be patronizing and unhelpful. He would ask me a few basic questions and then talk to my guardian privately for the majority of each session. He only gave pertinent feedback to my parents and left me to wonder what secrets he was withholding. He concluded that I was untrustworthy, incompetent, and unable to make logical decisions about my own treatment with no evidence to rely on besides our brief monthly interactions. There were many instances where I overheard phone conversations between him and my guardian in which he tried to convince her to institutionalize me, told her she "didn't know me" (as if he did), and claimed that "these kids [with my specific diagnosis]" are manipulative. He pigeonholed me into a stereotype based on a mere label. If you value yourself as more than a mental illness- especially if you're a minor- don't bother seeing a guy who thinks he's entitled to assume a person's life story without getting to know them.

I saw Dr. Sears when I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety at 15 years old. He was extremely rude, arrogant, blunt, and unhelpful. He actually managed to make both me AND MY MOTHER cry at the appointment. He told my mom she had failed as a parent because I was overweight. He is a disgrace of a doctor.

He misdiagnosed my son years ago, gave him the wrong medication and a too low dose. He was very arrogant. I took my son to a psychiatrist at UCLA who said what Dr. Sears did was WAY OFF BASE AND NOT EFFECTIVE! Stay away from Dr. Sears if you have a child - got their safety!

My 26 year old son has been treated for Autism with medication by Dr. Sears for 15 years. He was prescribed secondary use medications to treat symptoms described by his mother when he was 10 years old and never carefully reevaluated. Appointments that I attended with my son and Dr. Sears consisted of Dr. Sears speaking to my son like a child and asking him "How ya doing?" "Are you going to school?" then asking for permission to get his blood work results from his regular Dr. appointment. My son was weened off the medications because of hand tremors (he plays guitar) and has been off over a year with no ill effects and presents as much brighter and coherent now. Dr. Sears was asked by the court to provide a report evaluating my son's condition since being off medication. After charging $1200 for the report Dr. Sears dragged his feet providing the report. When he did finally produce the report he emailed it out with a 24 font size with no punctuation, in a very childish display.

Based on reviews I called to get my daughter in to see Dr. Sears. I wanted to speak to the doctor prior to booking an appointment to see if this would be a good fit for her and to check some specific treatment philosophies. I was told he is too busy to speak to anyone on the phone or even exchange an email. The woman I spoke to didn't know the answers to my questions. He may be good but not worth anything if he won't speak to me or provide information! Very disappointing

I have attended my wife's psychiatric appointments with Dr. Sears for the past six years. My wife agrees with me that Dr. Sears is, by far, the best psychiatrist my wife has used in her life. Dr. Sears is an excellent listener as well as being caring and compassionate. He is concerned and attentive to both her mental and physical health. We'd give him six stars if I could.

I find Dr. Sears to be caring, compassionate and warm. I've had bad luck with psychiatrists over the years and Dr. Sears is just right. I see him for medication management and he really takes the time to make sure I'm OK. I've seen psychiatrists who rushed you in and out, I had one who was probably using himself, I had one who didn't speak English - Dr. Sears is just right!
