I was quite disappointed with Dr Rampersaud. I switched doctors after my 2nd visit. He gave bad advice on the side effects of the drug he prescribed me. This was confirmed by my new doctor. Also, his bedside manner was extremely calloused. He had no interest in my concerns about my long term prognosis.

10 Year Bladder Cancer Survivor
In January 2014, my family met with Dr. Rampersaud at Duke after my mother had been diagnosed in December 2013 with bladder cancer. Dr. Rampersaud answered our long list of questions with confidence and compassion. He assured us that with the Duke protocol for treatment that my mother would have five years added to her life. On May 16, 2024, my mother celebrated 10 years since having her bladder removed and she is now 85 years old! Dr. Rampersaud and his team took excellent care of my mother before, during and after her surgery. As can happen after surgery, my mother's bowels did not wake up for nearly three weeks but soon afterwards she was released from the hospital. My mother has never had any type of complication with her ostomy and she still leads a normal and happy life. We are so very grateful to Dr. Rampersaud for saving my mother's life.

Apparently I didn't merit attention
I booked several appointments with Dr. Rampersaud, but only spoke to him twice. The first time went great. The next time was when he 'popped' into a procedure I was told would be done by him when SURPRISE! It was done (like all other appointments) by his PA Rachel Baker. During an urgent appointment I scheduled with her (that was not in an urgent time frame), she told me that I COULD NOT have a kidney infection that had ascended from a bladder infection/UTI. She told me 'UTIs don't turn into kidney infections' because 'urine flows down, not up'. No, this WAS NOT a misunderstanding on my part. I mentioned that every other doctor I had spoken to thought contrarily. She said it was a 'common misconception'. Check the Mayo clinic website(or any others). Not only is the information she is spreading WRONG, but DANGEROUS! I tried to get an appointment with Rampersaud to tell him about his PA, but every appointment scheduled 'with him' was with Rachel Baker. Apparently I didn't merit his time

We found Dr Rampersaud by reputation. When my husband’s tumor was discovered in Myrtle Beach with growth into his heart, his doctor said that there was only one person he knew that could remove it. When we got to Duke and we’re sitting in the waiting room we sat next to a man who had had the same problem and they told us how Dr Rampersaud saved their life. It put us at great ease. My husband had the operation and has done wonderfully well. We owe the world to Dr Rampersaud and his team.

Dr. Rampersaud introduced himself, leaned against a counter, crossed his arms, took a big sigh and asked me "So, why do you think you're here?" At first I thought he walked into the wrong room. He seemed like he hadn't looked over my medical records at all, lacking any knowledge of my current medical condition or treatment status. He spoke to me continually in a tone that reflected I was wasting his time. Regardless of his medical training, he lacks compassion, tact, and common human decency.

Horribly rude & disrespectful to my 75 y/o mother referred to him for surgery. No professionalism, compassion, or concerns, as he casually leaned against a wall asking in a disconcerting demeanor, "Explain to me what you think your here for?", demeaning her answers to her understanding/interpretations of her health issues, and belittling her use of a scooter on that day she had expected to be hearing some compassionate explanation of test results, diagnosis, and optional treatment choices.
