Exactly 20 years, I was told by one doctor in Palm Springs to "Son, you need to go home and get your financial affairs in order. You have no more than 10 to 12 weeks to live." I was devastated. I knew my cancer was bad, but not that bad. Then I found Dr. Elber Camacho. For the next 6 months, he put me on a strong mixture of chemotherapy drugs that saved my life. He always listened to my concerns and did everything he could do to get me through the worst days of my life. How do you find the appropriate words to describe someone who saved your life? I can never thank him enough.

I have no doubt that Dr. Camacho is a competent doctor, maybe even a brilliant one. But the longer I have been a patient of his office, the more I have been troubled by (1) Camacho's cool, hurried, clinical bedside manner (he rarely looks me in the eye and doesn't seem a bit interested in my personal experience); (2) his office policy of insisting that patients schedule an office visit any time the patient wants test results--even if those test results are negative. Cash grab.
