Dr. Elbert Hodges Jr, MD

When I was a student at USC, Dr. Hodges was able to get me off of the incorrect medication and onto the right meds. My original psychiatrist had me on anti-psychotics reserved for inpatient schizophrenics when I was a college student with depression and anxiety. He literally saved my life. I saw him every month or two for about three years and cannot recommend him enough. He genuinely cares about his patients and about making them better, not just treating someone as quickly as possible and sending them on their way. One thing he always told me was that mental health is just as important as physical health. He'd say we give someone with a broken leg crutches and painkillers and don't think twice about that, so we should never feel ashamed about taking medication or going to therapy for problems with our minds. He shatters every negative stereotype for the elder southern white man category and I absolutely adore him.

I saw Dr. Hodges when I went to USC and he truthfully saved my life. Lately I’ve been feeling terribly anxious and depressed again and all I can think about is how I wish I had the same access to Dr. Hodges as I did when I was in SC. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Hodges. He truly cares for his patients and will do whatever he needs to do to help you get better. Best psychiatrist and an even best person. He listens, he cares and he shows compassion.

Dr. Hodges is the best psychiatrist I have ever had. He truly embodies what it means to be a physician and is incredibly good at what he does. He is very timely, is a gifted listener, and when he's with you, he makes you feel like you are the only person in the world.
