Dr. Elizabeth Henderson, MD

Excellent. Dr. Henderson was present at my hospital mere hours after my son's birth in Aug. 2012. (And she had seen my son 3 times - he had jaundice at birth - before my ObGyn ever saw me; my OB wasn't on call when I went into labor.) She's been his doctor ever since. She's professional & explains everything very well. She's personable & remembers her patients. She also does a good job at assessing the soft risks (questions him directly). She also makes a point explaining the difference between a doctor (with his parents present) seeing his privates versus in any other situation. My niece & nephew use her as well and she was the only one able to diagnosis his pneumonia despite already having gone to Cook's Children's twice and having scans done then. She accurately assessed where she thought there sounded to be fluid in his lung with her stethoscope alone and requested scans detailing exactly what location to focus on and it was finally found after 2 weeks of getting worse. Love her!

Most of the reviews of Dr Henderson are positive and I have no reason to doubt those. However, the booking experience was amazingly poor. The doctor is a member of the BSW system. We are new Colleyville residents and I wanted to set up our son with a new patient visit. I selected that option online and was happy to see that an appt was available in about 2 weeks. About 5 days after I made the appointment I received a msg that I’d have to reschedule since they don’t do “well child” exams at that time. I called an was told “we aren’t seeing sick children at all, I don’t know why she wrote that”. Now, the earliest appt would be late Sept. I again asked how I was able to schedule 11/2 mo sooner online. The answer: The Dr won’t see patients then because she handles prescriptions and the web site “isn’t that good”. Seemed to be a somewhat lackluster explanation, I said that it is their operation and they can run it as they choose - but the review is my choice. She said “OK” and “good-bye”.

We have seen Dr. Henderson since my first daughter was born in Nov. 2011. She is very personable and knowledgeable. She is very by the book which can be good or bad depending on your personality. The office is great and we never have to wait. In the last year or so scheduling has become a problem as she is splitting time between offices and we always end up at an urgent care for sick visits because we can't get in same day. We have been fine for all routine care over the past 8 years.

Beware before considering Dr. Elizabeth Henderson with Colleyville Family Medicine. My daughter is now 20.5 months and still has not been seen for her 18-month check up, so is behind on her vaccinations. The earliest I could get her in to see Dr. Henderson was almost two months late due to the docs unavailability and when the date finally arrived they called me that morning to reschedule because the doc couldn’t make it in that day. Completely understanding, I rescheduled for another month out.
