Smart Doctor
Wife went to Dr. Allen for throat problems after by pass surgery. He examined her and gave her prescriptions for a couple of things. Ended up with Dr. Woods (gastroenterologist) doing an endoscope. Afterwards her nurse was taking med list and when she got to the prescriptions Dr. Allen had prescribed she said "Smart Doctor" not knowing that it was Dr. Allen that had prescribed them and that was what Dr. Woods prescribed also. Have several other examples over the years that he has been taking care of our family.

I saw Dr. Allen for a serious infection. He tried several different treatments, but the infection did not respond. During the course of treatment he provided me with his persona cell phone number, and wanted me to call immediately if my symptoms became worse. Ultimately he referred me to an orthopedic specialist who saw me within three hours of being contacted, and after consulting with Dr. Allen he admitted me to the hospital. I could not ask for better treatment.

He gets angry very easily. He does not believe in anything that he did not learn in medical school 30 years ago. He believes there is only one way to do anything and that is the only way he will do it. He has a cliff notes for doctors that he uses to decide what drug to prescribe for what symptoms. He doesn't practice medicine, he practices Pharmacy. He will not accept any input from his patients. If you try to give him relevant information he puts you down for it and act as if you are stupid

He treats One symptom at a time, with one prescription at a time, per visit. And don't get a chance to list all your symptoms before he whips out his prescription pad and write the prescription for the first symptom that you mentioned. He is not interested in finding out the root cause of your illness but only in masking your symptoms. He also has a hair-trigger temper. I have heard him shouting at his staff and at other patients if they said something that went against what he believes. It

Hair trigger temper. You had better not ask questions or object to anything. You don't get to have any input into decisions about your own health care. Doesn't try to find out what's wrong with you - just keeps prescribing medications to mask the symptoms. Most made me worse. He has one set of rules that he applies to every patient. Symptom X always gets treated with drug X, whether it works for you or not. Will not accept information from patients, thinks he knows everything possible already.
