Rigid and Authoritarian
I found Dr. Tuerk to be rigid in her views and authoritarian. I would hope that a primary care physician would see themselves as a partner in their patients' health care, but I felt that Dr. Tuerk didn't listen to what I was saying about my medical history, and instead had her own intractable viewpoints - a one-size-fits-all mentality. I felt that my concerns were not respected and I was not seen as an individual. Instead of having a discussion about a treatment plan and what my options were, I felt that she had a 'what I say goes' attitude.

Dr. Tuerk has become a trusted family physician.
I first met Dr. Tuerk in July of 2015. She is extremely thoughtful and takes her time to make sure my concerns have been addressed. When my mother's primary care physician moved out of the Loyola network, Dr. Tuerk took her on as a patient. I have appreciated all Dr. Tuerk has done for me as a physician but I want to share how she treats my mother. Dr. Tuerk has shown extreme competence and patience with my elderly parent. She will make time in her extremely busy schedule to squeeze my mother in for an appointment if my mom feels unwell. During COVID's lockdown, Dr. Tuerk was on the computer video meeting with my mom and making sure her health needs were being met. I have never had such a caring and competent physician in my 49 years. She is a blessing to have for my 87 year old mother who has multiple health issues. I trust Dr. Tuerk with my health as well as my mothers.

I feel fortunate that Dr. Tuerk has been my primary care doctor for more than 5 years. She is a very competent, caring doctor. To keep me in the best possible health, she recommends the right tests, vaccinations, medications, and diet changes. She carefully reviews my history at each wellness visit and follows up with me about my test results. She has treated various issues for me and sent me to the right specialists.

She is kind and does listen to you. However, in my opinion, she is very reserved and tentative in her treatment plans. Thus, in my opinion and experience with her, this leads to delayed diagnosis and treatment, or none at all. Sadly, because of this approach to medicine, I feel I have suffered irreversible health issues. What I believe to have been a simple medical case has become an expensive, chronic health issue that may have been avoided with a different medical approach.
