Dr. Enrico Souto, MD

I am baffled by the high ratings this gastroenterologist receives. My mother has now undergone two colonoscopies with this doctor, and she’s scheduled for a third because neither of the previous procedures fully resolved the issue. Despite clear imaging and precise measurements, only part of the polyp was removed in the first procedure. The second attempt also fell short, leading to a partial resection that resulted in an infection. This series of incomplete and problematic procedures is far from the standard of care that patients expect and deserve. Now, my mother faces another procedure, this time involving a surgeon, to correct what should have been resolved on the first attempt. Patients deserve comprehensive, competent care, not repeated, risky procedures due to a lack of thoroughness.

I can't thank enough GI Dr. Enrico Souto, MD. for the special, excellent care he has provided and for the unique gift of life saving to his patients include me. His skills, empathy and desire to bring the patients to health is astonishing. Beautiful person inside out.

For 18 years I had a pain upper right side of stomach coming and going months apart and then progressing to monthly and finally to weekly. I was told it was Ulcerated colitis ,Crohn’s disease, acute acid reflux, beginning stages of stomach cancer, stomach tumors all this wasn’t what I had. I had something called.Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction. In June the pain came back to the point where I couldn’t breathe the pain was so intense and the attending physician who ordered MRIs CT scans CAT scans, every kind of blood test that there was finally came to my room after I was admitted because my liver and pancreas enzymes were off the charts. He recommended I see a gastroenterologist by the name of Dr. E. Souto. Because I had SOD. I met with him. He diagnosed me with SOD explained thoroughly the procedures, and he saved my life from this miserable excruciating pain. He is simply the best. He’s caring compassionate a remarkable surgeon and doctor. Simply the best he saved my life.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Souto for over 9 years. I was seen by him in UM. I became sick and was told he no longer did practice there. I have SOD (Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction) and had to be hospitalized 3 times. It was hard because not all GI’s understand SOD or can make ERCP procedures. On February 5th i was hospitalized for the 4th time in less than a month. I was in excruciating pain with vomiting. I went to Memorial Hospital were now Dr. Souto works. As I lay crying in bed I literally cried and asked for Dr Souto knowing that he was the only one who could do the procedure and make me feel better. Long story short he did and I am recovering well. He is the most caring, and gentle doctor I’ve ever known.. He’s expertise in what he does and the knowledge he has plus bed side patient is what he’s best at. Thank you Dr. Souto I will be forever grateful. I recommend him ??. Trust my words you will NEVER regret it… ??

I have seen world renowned experts in his field from Boston, DC and FL over the past few years and none of them come anywhere close to the abilities, care, professionalism and help that Dr Souto has provided. You will not find a better doctor in his field.
