Should have walked out the morning of surgery
My initial appointment went absolutely fine, we agreed on a surgery date and all proceeded well. The morning of surgery, as I stood completely naked in front of him, Dr. Marchant stated "Oh, you're bigger than I remembered". Should have left that instant. My abdominoplasty was over-resected (meaning he took too much skin) and ultimately the wound dehisced, requiring months of wound packing, concern for infection, and delayed healing. He never did the initial dressing change, actually never even examined me the morning post-op (another HUGE red flag - a good surgeon ALWAYS does their first dressing change), and was genuinely disinterested that next day. If I wasn't in the medical field and didn't stand up for myself, I would have gone home much too soon (had lost alot of blood and had dangerously low blood pressure) - I insisted on staying another night to get a blood transfusion. I found him to be dismissive, inattentive and distracted. Not good qualities in a surgeon.
