Silverstein is a big talker but his results do not back up his promises. Like others, I suffered from a botched procedure that he promised would be routine. A simple bunionectomy led to permanent numbness, torn ligaments, and a shift in my toes, leaving me in excruciating pain. Silverstein kept insisting that everything was fine, that I should just 'give it time.' I recently had major surgery with a top orthopedic surgeon to correct all the errors Silverstein made. This required a bone graft, breaking three toes, and a ligament transfer. I would not send my worst enemy to this incompetent.

Dr. Silverstein is one of the best doctors I have worked with. As a medical professional myself, it’s becoming rarer to find someone who gives you their full attention and really listens to what’s going on. As a patient, I have noted that Dr. Silverstein treats whoever is in front of him like they are the center of his world. He worked with me through a tricky insurance situation and helped me figure out the best route to orthotics possible. I could move 10 states away and I would come back for this type of care because doctors like this are hard to come by.

Dr Silverstein performed bunion and hammer toe surgery on me and the results were very good. He will explain everything in detail but you need to listen first. If he hasn't answered all your questions after his initial explanation, then feel free to ask your questions. While wait times in his Hartford office can be long, I did not have long wait times in the West Hartford office. He referred me to an excellent physical therapist. If you explicitly follow directions then you should be good to go.

Not recommended. He did a bunion surgery and hammertoe surgery on me that failed. I have since learned it was not done correctly. He did not pin the toes, let me walk on a pinned bone within 2 weeks. He did not use blood thinners to prevent a pulmonary embolism. He also lied to me about this other many other things. He is arrogant and his average office wait time is well over an hour.

Dr. Eric W. Silverstein takes the time to listen carefully and lets you tell him about your foot pain/problem in detail. He does not rush to do surgery, opting for a conservative approach to see where that takes you. His patient load is heavy because he is very well regarded, and rightfully so. He is the most caring doctor and his staff is wonderful.
