I am writing this review on behalf of my 75y old mother, who is the caregiver for my 87 yr old father with dementia. my mother does not drive any longer and in order for her to leave for appointments arrangements have to be made for some one to care for my father while she is out. my mom has a history of blood clot years ago and recently another clot was found at an ER visit, she was given a one week supply of blood thinner medication and told to call her PCP (this individual) to send in a continuous prescription for the rest. blood thinner meds can not be suddenly stopped, you must take them daily at the same times, this DO (not even an MD) prescribed her a 3 month supply, which is fine in itself EXCEPT that the cost was going to To be $100 to fill it. so my Mom called the Drs office to ask if possible to switch to a different med (not so expensive for her limited social security income) she spoke with the receptionist who informed her the answer was no, no other explanation as to why the answer was a flat no, mind you this prescription needed to be filled in a very timely manner as her next dose was due VERY soon after. so the receptionist told my mom she would call her back after talking with the dr. which she did call back and told my mom "I am so sorry, but the Dr said if you want any questions answered, you'll need to make an appointment to come see her & speak with her directly" the receptionist kept apologizing saying I'm so sorry I don't know why this is happening. because she understands how long it takes to get an appointment and also that my mom needs to get a ride and find someone to sit with my dad while she is out, so a lot goes into her just leaving the house. NOT to mention the importance of taking this blood thinner ON TIME. that left my mother with no alternative but to charge it on her credit card and worry about paying for it later, she was very rude, unprofessional and lacks compassion. I would not even take an animal to seek care from her!! we are in the process of finding her another actual MD!
