Dr. Erin Thurston, MD

Dr. Thurston did my D and C procedure after I had a miscarriage at 15 weeks along. She came in the room saying that she was sorry to hear about my miscarriage. I thought she would just explain to me about the procedure itself. Our talk moved to how my eggs are “old” and some or a lot of them most likely have a chromosomal abnormality. I am 41. Our baby was a surprise, but we were very happy about her. Our baby had genetic testing and the blood results came back really great saying there would be a 1/10,000 chance the baby would have an abnormality. She said that the blood test I had only tests for Down’s syndrome & trisomy 13 and 18. She said there are others out there that the baby could have had—could have been why I miscarried-me being pregnant again would be risky and it was a fluke that I got pregnant at 41. How she talked to me was pompous. I thought she was being an alarmist.I did not appreciate this during this time. She knows her stuff, but bedside manner needs improving.

always feel completely comfortable with each appointment. she takes time to speak to you, and hear about things in your life/apply to you and is straight to the point in a perfectly laid back sense- as if you're speaking to one of your girlfriends. Great recommendation.

Love her! Really feel like she listens and gives you all of your options and allows you to make your own decisions. Takes time to answer questions and I felt like I really made an informed choice regrading my health. Really enjoy her casual and straightforward style!
