Dr. Esther McKenzie, MD

I have a family member with down syndrome who was seen by Dr McKenzie. She had a difficult time finding his veins during pre op and I told them that he will not tolerate them poking him much longer. Since he is non verbal, he can get quickly upset without warning. I understand they needed to find a vein, but if they were having trouble why not ask for help instead of just poking him over and over. I needed to speak up for him, cuz he cant defend himself and we needed this procedure to happen but when he becomes resistant its almost impossible to work with him. Instead of being considerate she began yelling at me to go sit down (as if I was a child). We requested some one else and they were able to find a vein almost immediately and the staff apologized for this doctor's rude behavior noting that the doctor was in a bad mood. This was uncalled for and very unprofessional. I will make sure to request someone else if this doctor is assigned to any of my family member again.
