Dr. Eugene Chang, MD

I’ve now had two unrelated surgeries on my left ankle from treating life like a contact sport. Dr. Chang is pragmatic in his approach to treatment options always recommending conservative treatment plans when appropriate. I’m a retired Physician Assistant and always referred my patients with foot and ankle needs without reservation.

I was seen right on time. There was no wait. Everyone was very efficient. Dr Chang was very caring and helpful. I only wished I’d asked more questions. That’s on me.

First the PA came in for history, pulled up xrays and previous visits to see if anything new was happening! Very thorough and made me think a lot about my problem feet! Then I had x-rays, techs were so caring and helpful, trying not to put me in mire pain! Appreciated all the consideration. Then, in came smiling, happy Dr Chang. My daughter had met him but not me. He remembered her and her problems. Gave me several options, one was an ibuprofen injection( I think), thought to myself yes, just like Cortisone never helped trigger fingers or wrists, etc. THIS DID work. At least a month with no pain (arthritic bones in foot collapsing my arch)! Two months later it, once in a great while, twinges but NOT LIKE BEFORE I Went to THIS GROUP ! Fully satisfied and will be able to wear prescribed orthotics and avoid surgery for a while!!!

Dr. Chang is very impressive. He is highly trained with extensive experience. He is also very nice and easy to work with. All of the OPA staff, including Dr. Chang, make you feel welcome the moment you step in the door, and work with you to assure the best possible outcome.

I drove all the way from Soldotna to see Dr. Chang from word of mouth. I felt that I was listened, he explained things in layman’s terms, he showed me on the X-ray what parts were of concern, and he actively listened to my questions and concerns. The receptionists were professional and kind.

Appointment was ontime. Dr. Chang was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.

Dr. Chang is the absolute best at what he does. He has diligently followed up with me for the past year and a half through two surgeries and is passionate about getting me back to my best self. He is compassionate, precessional, and the best at what he does. I very highly recommend him.

Dr Chang and All of his staff and Associates deserve great recognition and all of the gold stars for the attention and quality of care that they provide to their patients during such a time of need.I had my accident on vacation and I truly felt scared and at a loss for not having my home resources and connections for my needs. Dr Chang and his associates (office staff, surgical staff and Anesthesiologists) provided me with wonderful care, from start to finish!My husband and I have been in the medical industry for over 30 years. From that aspect, as well as being on the patient side, I can honestly say that Dr Chang is kind and genuine and he has the best bed side manner of any physician that I have ever worked with. He further gained my respect as we discussed treatment options for me. He took a genuine interest in my needs as a person and not just a patient.

Dr, Chang did a phenomenal job on my tib/fib/ligament surgery. I had a bad slip and fall and came to OPA with a broken fibula and tibia, and a ruptured ligament. One surgery, seven screws and some other hardware later, I’m in physical therapy and working toward getting back to my active lifestyle. Dr. Chang wasn’t just a competent surgeon - he was compassionate and kind. I truly felt safe in his care and I knew from speaking with him that he cares about being a healer and wants his patients to thrive. I have had some negative medical experiences in the past, and I was so anxious before surgery because of that and was scared I wouldn’t be able to go through with it. After meeting Dr Chang and the OPA team, that anxiety became manageable and I was able to get this necessary procedure. I could not recommend them enough. Thank you so much Dr Chang and OPA for giving me my mobility back!

Dr. Chang and staff were all helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. They took time to explain everything and answer all questions and they were very attentive to my needs and comfort.

My visit was AMAZING. Everyone was very professional and personable. I always felt valued as a patient and a person. Wait time wasn't long for anything I needed to have done. Had my X-ray not long after the nurse got me all checked in. Got back to the room, and the nurse came back, brought up my X-ray had me take my shoe and sock off, then told me Dr. Chang would be in soon. Not even 5 minutes later he was knocking on the door. What a Wonderful first impression he made. Very kind and caring. Allowed my husband and I to share with him regarding our lives, then into the appointment. He checked my bunion, explained my options to resolve it, and I chose surgery. He shared with me what to expect and how long recovery would be. The Care Team Lead nurse came in next, got my surgery scheduled and we were on our way. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Chang and his team if you are in need of any Ortopedic Doctor.

He has great communication skills. He cared for as a person not just as a potential surgical bunion case. He spent a long time getting to know how my feet were affecting my lifestyle and gave me a number of things to help other than going immediately to surgery. Should I eventually need foot surgery he will be my choice. He was awesome!!

Dr. Chang and Staff are awesome!! Always friendly and helpful. Dr. Chang is a great listener and explains things in everyday terms that are easily understood.

I did the check in online. Arriving, everyone was welcoming and friendly. Arrival check in was a breeze. The staff was courteous, professional,and concerned about my well being. They talked as if we had been friends for some time and we were catching up, which put me more at ease. Dr. Chang was brilliant and his hands were warm. (Rare for doctors and nurses!) He explained everything simplistically and thoroughly, so I was not put off or confused. I would visit his Dr. Chang and his team again if needed. Thank you , Dr. Chang and your team of pros. I was very impressed with Dr Chang. He was warm, friendly, and professional. I was confident in his knowledge and am satisfied so far. I would recommend him to others. I am being seen for a broken fibula (very near my ankle).
