I was a patient of Dr Herrington’s for 15 years. Yes, he was the kind, supportive doctor that others have described, until he wasn’t. His receptionist started picking on me around 2016. I had talked to him about it and he then spoke with her and things were better for a while. This went on for several years and he was aware of her attitude toward me. All of the sudden,in 2019,she would pull the same stuff, and did not stop or get in trouble for it.. Hmmm, I’m not stupid, and all of the sudden she could jerk me around all she wanted with no consequences. I finally told Dr. Herrington that I was tired of dealing with his unprofessional office and was ready for a change if it didn’t stop. A few days later, she did it again. At the same time, his nurse had accused me of abusing my adhd medication, which was untrue. So, the doctor is kind and supportive until his personal interests conflict with patient needs. Then he blames everything on you.

Dr. Herrington was our family physician for many years. Our 11 year old son was having a lot of unexplained problems, including drinking more water than usual. I told Dr. Herrington that my aunt had Type 1 Diabetes and asked if it could be that. He said, "No, he would have more symptoms." Some time elapsed and then he went on a field trip to Dauphin Island and when he got back he looked extremely thin. I had him check him, and then he tested his blood sugar and realized he was in Diabetic Ketoacidosis. He had to be in ICU for two days. I was very grateful he caught his diabetes, but afterwards felt torn because I know he could have prevented our son's ICU stay if he had tested him earlier. I called the office crying one day when I was having a breakdown over the phone, and through a misunderstanding, Dr. Herrington thought I was going to sue him. He dismissed our family from the practice. Definitely not what I was expecting and just added to our suffering. Not the man I thought he was.

Dr. Herrington is an experienced, kind, and caring physician. He looks not only a diagnosis but considers the individual and their situation in treatment plans. His staff is equally proficient and courteous. This practice is everything you want in family medicine.
