The doctor to trust for pain management
10 years ago I could barely walk from a painful back. My doctor recommended Dr. Parano. His skillful injections gave me my mobility back. My back is again extremely painful and I am once again in Dr. Parano's care. He is kind, patient, caring and I trust him to manage my pain. His office staff is courteous and extremely helpful anytime I call with questions.

Stay away. This guy is nasty
This doctor is the most nasty uncaring doctor I have ever had. He won't let you speak. Tried to tell him I just got out of the hospital. he actually said he wasn't interested Yelled at me litterly. Assistant said go find another doctor. It's unavailable this guy is a pain doctor.

Patient care & communication sucks
He is by far the nastiest, rudest man I have ever come across. His back office staff carries his same funky attitude.

Worse doctor ever. Was supposed to perform a RFA and instead I have had nothing but continuous back pain for 9 months. I just hope this is not permanent.

My first impression isn’t great. The person calling me about making an appointment hung up on me. Now I can’t get through as it goes to a VM.

I saw Dr Proano between May and July of 2020. During this time I found his staff rude and unorganized. The lady ordering medications, ordered the wrong kind three times causing me to be without my pain medication for ten days. At first Dr Proano was very nice, seemed organized and started a treatment plan designed for me. He had not read my file before my third visit and last visit. He had no clue who I was and how I came to be in his office. I had recently moved to Torrance from another county. He treated me disdainfully and condescending, he was confused as to what medicines I was on, called me a druggy that my doctor transferred me to him. I was appalled! Calmly I told him what medication I was taking and that I had recently moved to Torrance. He ordered the correct medication. I contacted my Primary Care Doctor and requested a Second Opinion, hence transferred to another pain management doctor.

I’ve been an acute pain patient of Dr. Proano‘s for two years. My only reason for employing this doctor is it my insurance ran out for my first choice. I am overjoyed that HE won’t take my insurance anymore! I have moved on and I will never look back at this unfeeling man ever again! I would advise you to do the same. I agree with ALL the other reviews that he makes no eye contact, has no Communication skills, no bedside manner, no feelings, and it seems no guilt either.

I am stunned by some of these less than 5 star reviews. This Dr. is efficient both in the office and OR. He is a damn good Doctor and that is the ultimate goal, right? I get why some may feel his compentancy could not be the perfect fit. He is not Doggie Howser but I am going with skill every time.

I have 3 herniated discs in the lumbar area. My experience w Dr. Proano has been good. It started with the office experience. Friendly, helpful staff and a thorough meeting with the Dr. He scheduled me for an epidural and nerve block. He did mention it would probably take more than one shot. The shot experience at the Coast Surgery center went well. Nice staff, good service. Dr checked in before. The whole experience went was organized and went well. The shot didnt work. Bummer.

Went to Dr. Proano, in September 2016, for a hip cortisone shot, came away with a cortisone flare and a staph infection, which I am still suffering from. Soon after, after trying to reach him several times, he finally showed up for 5 minutes, while I was in the hospital. Have spoken to him once since that time, and have not heard a word from him since. Would have been nice if he tried to contact me over the past 6 months, to see how I was doing.

I would NEVER recommend this dr to ANYBODY! I saw him 1 time at hospital for T-spine epidural. He yelled at the attending nurse, the flouroscope tech & me. I was given only a small local, then he "stabbed" me, my arm began jumping uncontrollably. The nurse was trying to comfort me & said it was ok to scream. Another nurse asked how it went. "She felt EVERYTHING!"I began to dress then was told I had been sedated & had to wait. I left immediately. Negative side fx lasted a week. Never saw dr again

When I came into Dr. Proano's office in April, I shuffled in on a walker because of a botched procedure from a doctor in Hermosa Beach. Dr. Proano listened to what I had to say. He said we would try and make my pain go away. After the first epidural I was a little better and was able to walk with still some pain. I then had two more epidurals, and I have not had any pain medication since June. I am a very happy patient.

Began using Dr. Proano in May, 2016 following the retirement of my pain management physician. I am in chronic pain from an automobile accident. Extremely difficult case. My care has been excellent. Office is quite busy but my care has not been compromised what so ever.
